I played a lot of beginners. We were at a community centre holiday. That was on the New South Wales south coast.

I'm playing in a nine-round tournament. I held up well against a far higher rated player! Then I suffered from insomnia, and neglected to castle. The next game was a slog!

I have been delighted at winning three points in the 6-round under 1200 event. That's my best weekend tournament result ever!

I have been playing very well in the Doeberl Cup. Out of three games so far, I have two points! The Queen's Gambit and Sicilian Defence have served me well. Some fumbling in the middle game lost me the first round, however.

The Director of Play entered game moves from score sheets into a chess database.
The final game was played on an electronic board on the top table.
A big trophy was awarded to the tournament winner.

I fixed that problem.
But this afternoon's match exhausted me! I started 1 d4. But a few moves into the opening I mistakenly advanced to d5 instead of developing a piece. Things went downhill badly when I blundered my queen for a bishop. My only saving grace was that my opponent was worse than me in the end game!

Yesterday in a pub, I studied my afternoon's game. And I was aghast to discover that I had been incorrectly recording some moves.

My next game will be playing white against a higher-rated player. I have been studying king's pawn openings.
