Most days anything can make me laugh. It can be silly such as Steve Martin or romantic comedy or even my fiance.

But like most people I have my dark days where not much can make me laugh.

Being in the presence of those that I love, my children, my boyfriend, friends/family, and even sometimes my co-workers. Pure moments of absolute joy the bubbles up from within. Watching my dog get excited when I come home. Listening to my son tell me lame jokes that he can't get the punchline right...who am I to talk, neither can I. What makes me laugh...the joy fo being ALIVE.

There are alot of things that make me laugh.

Some of them include my hubby making yummy noises, my dog, Pookie, smiling at me, comedy movies, my dog, Rushie when he runs to his favorite spot to get his back scratched by my foot, the corny jokes my hubby tells me, my daughter's snort, my Mom's sense of humor, which rubbed off on me, and my hubby's contagious laughter.

It doesn't take very much to get a good laugh out of me!

Here's a little joke I hope you like.

What's the difference between in-laws and outlaws?

Outlaws are wanted! LOL

I'm currently in the process of deepening my commitment to a vegetarian and non-violent lifestyle, and in researching SUPER FOODS, I've been studying the chemistry of happiness and have learned a lot of useful tips.

HAPPYNESS happens within the body and can be chemically produced, not via illegal drugs but via choosing a diet rich in superfoods like raw cacao.  The movie 'What the Bleep Do We Know' goes into more details about this, even explaining the role of neuropeptydes, but I digress.

Actually, a lot of this super foods information is available on youtube and anyone can learn it.

For instance, RAW CACAO, which is the nut out of which chocolate is processed, in its raw form, is the single most nutritionally rich food in the planet and it contains a substance known as theobromine (= the food of the gods) which is known to produce happy states of being.  It also helps to regulate the secretion of serotonin within the body, the happy hormone.  It aids the cardiac health and strengthens the immune system.

Cacao, in its raw form, also contains a wonderful natural phyto-chemical called anandamide. Ananda is the Sanskrit word for BLISS, and one often hears this word in religious chants.  It is a soup of chemicals that produce joy.  And in its raw form, cacao has little to no caffeine (unlike its processed form, chocolate).

Cacao, when processed, lacks the nutritional value of raw cacao and the many benefits, so again make sure to buy raw cacao energy bars, or raw cacao nibs, etc.

Another elixir for joy is yerba maté, which is the green tea of South America.  I've been drinking mate for months now.  It has mateine, which is a mild stimulant similar to coffee but without the negative side effects that produce nervousness and heart palpitations in coffee: Yerba Maté is recommended for people who are trying to overcome their caffeine addiction.

It has many of the same chemical compounds of cacao, and it has a huge amount of nutrition packed into it, so much so that it can be treated as meal replacement and for weight loss.  I usually feel very lucid, awake and happy when I drink it.

Quinoa, I have noticed, also has mood boosting chemicals.  I know that it's a superfood, but I do not know exactly what it is in quinoa that does this.  Maybe it's the fact that when we give our bodies foods that are nutritionally rich, our bodies naturally respond better to stress and we become happier.

But I have observed that the food that we eat has a very definite effect on our states of consciousness: this is not metaphysics, it is science and I think people who are depressed or going through difficulties, instead of making themselves slaves of a pharmaceutical establishment that seeks a lucrative relationship with patients, should begin to choose what they eat in a more educated and more conscious manner.  People can get out of depression eating Raw cacao bars and other happy meals (the real ones, not the ones McDonalds sells) instead of becoming addicted to pills!

My favorite medicine of all is the chanting of the holy names of Krishna: it's by far more effective and powerful than these superfoods, so I combine superfoods with the yoga of devotion to produce my own happy reality :)

Great humor has to appear to  be spontaneous.  If you can predict what will happen, something is lost. I love Monty Python, especially the Holy Grail

I have not been laughing much lately.  But I notice every once in awhile God will send down an angel to comfort us with laughter.  This Angel was sent to me the other day.  At first I didnt recognize the fact that he was an angel. He was just a man on the beach with a kite.  Really more like an array of kites ten to be exact.  Ten kites that flew in tandem with long colored ribbons about 20 ft. long, each kite had a different colored ribbon attached.  This person had fantastic dexterity in flying this giant kite.  H e could make it soar with a wonderful brisk flapping sound or it would float silently.  Or he would have the kite hover.  He could land it flip it over with only the use of the strings he controlled it with then have it leap up of the ground and once again have it soaring high.  He would pick people out on the boardwalk and perform for them with his kites for instance there was a young couple obviously in love so he would float the kite over there heads and it would look like a beautiful rainbow hovering over you.  For children he would fly it at fantastic speeds high to low, low to high, soaring and racing around them then land it and just keep it still till curiosity got the best of the child.   then the child would approach the kites hesitantly, He would then flip it over and this would peek there interest even more and they would come even closer.  he would then jerk the kite off the ground and send it soaring once again.  Which would send the kids running for cover and screaming with wonder.  I couldnt stop laughing. the best part was a young man walking a juvenile boxer puppy.  He floated the kites over the young dog with the tails just out of reach.  it was just sheer joy too watch as the puppy chased and leaped and twirled in order to catch the tails but it was the pure bliss on this animals face that had me laughing the hardest.   So hard that three days later as I write this I am still laughing.  It was only until now that I realized that this Man was an angel sent as a performing clown and his gift was laughter.
