What are your favorite shows from your childhood?
I absolutely loved H R Pufnstuf and Captain Kangaroo and Romper Room.
DoorNumber3: I grew up watching Captain Kangaroo,Romper Room,Mickey Mouse,MakeRoom For Daddy,The Dick Van Dyke show,Ed Sullivan,Wildkingdom,ABC Wide World of Sports, Then Dr.Kildare,Ben Casey,Marcus Welby,The NameOf The Game,The Bold Ones,Medical Center,Rescue8~which was a precursor to Emergency. I hold a special place in my heart for Dr.Kildare & Richard Chamberlin: When I was 6 I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. One of the episodes was called "Tyger,Tyger" based upon the William Blake poem. it held meaning for me because it was about a surfer who was diagnosed with Epilepsy. I was 8 when it aired~ it made me see what could happen if I didn't take my medicine. I could die from a seizure. Rescue8 was a show that was in the early 1960's~ Jim Davis who was later to go on to fame as "Jock Ewing" was on the show~ he was already grey then!! The show dealt with a rescue unit~it wasn't on for long. Emergency was a better show and in colour. Emergency was helpful in getting EMS started thru out the entire country. |

I was a classic superhero comic book geek, so my favorite shows growing up in the early 70s were Superfriends, Ultraman, Speed Racer (which I loved because bad guys actually got shot and killed), Captain Marvel / Isis, Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, and reruns from the campy 60s Batman series.
Since that was before cable and 500 gazillion different channels, I also watched a lot classic sitcom reruns on the local independent station, especially the silly ones like Gilligans Island, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie, and The Beverly HIllbillies. But even as a little kid, I also enjoyed the good stuff like I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show. |
