The Supreme Court will agree and the whole argument will become moot, IMO.

The decision of the three judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals can be found Here I support the decision because it defends the civil rights and civil liberties of the LGBT community. Hopefully, SCOTUS will affirm this decision and end the discrimination against same-sex couples once and for all.
"When it shall be said in any country in the world, my poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am a friend of its happiness: When these things can be said, then may the country boast its constitution and its government." -- Thomas Paine: The Rights Of Man (1791)

I actually think the SCOTUS will go in favour of Prop 8. I no longer trust the SCOTUS to uphold anything beyond their own prejudices.

I fear that you may be correct, Ebon. I have little confidence in the even-handed rationality of this court. They are much too reactionary for my taste. |

Agree with you and farragut--this is one reactionary SCOTUS. Hope the extraordinary cold in England and Europe has not affected you. J.

It's freezing here. We're huddled around the gas fire in my office.

Sorry about the cold. If we could just have a couple of warm days here in the Ohio valley we'll have clouds of lovely daffodils. They're up and ready to open. |
