I agree. Let's be honest about who all went into building our civilization.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard was not what I meant...

And then there's that little 'omission' as to what went on in Lincoln's log cabin. |

I wonder if literature teachers are even allowed to mention that Walt Whitman was gay? Or that Gertrude Stein was a lesbian? Or that Oscar Wilde was gay? Can art teachers tell the truth about Michaelangelo? Can history teachers mention Richard the Lion Heart's sexual orientation? Or Alexander the Great's? |

Don't forget King James I of Great Britain. You know, the guy who proposed the 1611 Authorized Version of the Holy Bible. Link
"When it shall be said in any country in the world, my poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am a friend of its happiness: When these things can be said, then may the country boast its constitution and its government." -- Thomas Paine: The Rights Of Man (1791)

Oh I would never forget him. In fact, I oftern refer to it as the Queen James Version - though some people (who don't seem to appreciate irony OR humour) called me homophobic for it. |
