What else is new, shame on New York but I can't write I'm not surprised. Let's see if Texas and other more Biblical Godly states do the same thing as New York, not likely. I guess I'll have to boycott New York now and that's a shame I would of loved to get a kick out of visiting N.Y.C.

New York will miss the contributions of bigots so much. Do the world a favor and stay home and watch 'Green Acres', wouldja?

P.S. "Biblical" and "Godly" are NOT synonymous. But then again, America is NOT a theocracy. Thank Zeus.

As for Maine losing the right to same sex marriage I am so outraged by that, I have no words!

It can be confusing, Cap. NY legalized same sex marriage. Link

Some of these posts... boycott NY? Lol !

Boycott life because gay folk are everywhere.

We grow, prep, cook and serve, sell your food, we  are teachers, police officers, elected officials, docs, lawyers and indian chiefs!

Could even be a 911 operator, are going to ask that persons' sexual orientation when you are screaming for help?

Going to boycott the military?

How about Whole countries?  And all the products they import?

You will have nothing but you. Nothing.

Find a cave somewhere very remote and become a silent fasting hermit. just know, some hermits are gay too.

United States law is based on the Constitution, not the Bible. The First Amendment expressly prohibits the precepts of any single religion being established as law.

"The genius of the Constitution rests not in any static meaning it might have had in a world that is dead and gone, but in the adaptability of its great principles to cope with current problems and current needs." -- Justice William Brennan: Speech to the Text and Teaching Symposium at Georgetown University,(October 12, 1985)

Over the years I have written and have read some silly thngs, but boycotting NY, ranks right up there with the silliest.

Gay folk are everywhere .

Boycotting a State is not going to do a darn thing to change that fact.  One would have to boycott every State, City, all the public works and the entire world.

Stop shopping, grow your own food and live in a cave naked by yourself. No phone, no computer no nothing.   I mean really!

Same sex marriage is not going to hurt anyone.  If anything, more money will be plopped into the pockets of everyone related to the industry.  Good, bad and indifferent.

I know my union will be happening next year, I have reserved a spot and a musician. Already have an attorney, an accountant, a home, a therapist... ya think they are free?

Soon my relationship will be fully legal, this means a great deal medically, custodial responsibility and taxes, among other things.

I am 48, my partner is 60, we aint just doing this to piss of some people.

These views are mine completely, if offended,  see above.

How sad to use God as an excuse for prejudice, discrimination, and bigotry.

How do you reconcile this with the commandment not to take the Lord's name in vain?

It is sad that so many people use God as an excuse for bigotry and  discrimination. And people use their version of god as a reason to feel  superior to more than just gay people. I know the Christian Identity  Movement uses their version of "god" to feel superior to Blacks (and  GLBTs); the Ayran Nation Church of Jesus Christ uses their version to  feel superior to Blacks and Jews (and gays); the KKK uses their version  to feel superior to Blacks, Jews and anyone who isn't a heterosexual  Protestant, basically. And I know there are more. One group is really no  different than the other. Bigotry is bigotry. The arguements are all  the same only the target is different. And what kills me is the anti-gay  "christians" that try to say they are different than Fred Phelps and  Westboro Baptist Church - when the bigotry is exactly the same, even the target. And the vast majority even believe we're  going to "burn in hell". They just find his catch phrase "God hates  fags" to be distasteful (IMO).

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.

"You can safely assume that you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.
from Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott

Most people do not see the world as it is. They see it as they are.
