(Yes, this does belong in the Sexual Ethics forum.)
Can anyone here figure out what this song is about? (I have.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=15_UVCjhmI8 It's Britney Spears' "3." I had no idea what it was about the first several times I heard it, then suddenly it hit me. I googled the lyrics, and yup, it's exactly what I thought it was. My question is, is anyone upset that 12 year old girls will & do idolize her & this song, and perhaps think it'd be cool to emulate it? I realize this is an age-old question, but the ever-increasing main-streaming of extreme vulgarity just gets to me every now & then. |

Maybe this thread will sink like a rock, in which case, oh well. I'll just come right out & point out that the song is about sexual threesomes, and specifically, male-male-female threesomes, e.g. double penetration sandwiches. Where she sings, "Gettin' down with 3P/Everybody loves ***," the censored, unheard "***" is almost certainly "DP" (rhymes with "3P," get it?). Also, note the repeated reference to Peter, Paul & Mary. Also, "Not only you and me/Got 180 degrees/And I'm caught in between." What gets me is towards the end where she sings that it's all just innocent fun. Bull****. IMO, this is adult music, not young teen or tween music. But, whatever. Nothing can be done about it anyway, I guess.
1, 2, 3 Babe, pick a night Merrier the more ... What we do is innocent Everybody loves *** |

Do I approve? NO! I am outraged that such an electronically mangled mess should be called music! Oh, but you meant did I take offence that Briney Spears is selling sex? Well, she really hasn't got any talent, so what else is she going to sell? Her big hit, the one that made her name and fortune was "Baby one more time", and that video was a pedophilia porn tape. Is it good, no, is it new, no, is it going away, also no. I think people make too much of the infunence of "role models" on kids. Based on the music I listened to as a teenager, I should be a drug addict, but I never was. |

It's just getting ever-more extreme, is all I'm saying. This is the first mainstream (or any other kind) hit about double penetration I've ever heard. I've heard Marilyn Manson songs played on radio literally urging rape & murder, but I assume most 12 year old popular girls don't listen to MM as much as they do Britney. Oh, well, I suppose most 12 year olds aren't going to wear miniskirts without underwear & flash their goodies like Britney does, either. It does seem like America is becoming more like Brazil every day. Did you ever see the "Simpsons" parody of Brazilian television & pop culture? |
