Boltz shocks Christian community with homosexuality admission
Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 9/15/2008 6:55:00 AM

There is shock and sadness in the Christian community over word that famed Christian music singer Ray Boltz has publicly announced he’s living a homosexual lifestyle.

"If this is the way God made me, then this is the way I’m going to live...I really feel closer to God because I no longer hate myself." Those were the words of Ray Boltz in an interview with the Washington Blade about his decision to engage in homosexuality. Boltz, a father of four who was married for 33 years before officially divorcing his wife this year, is well-known for his widely acclaimed songs "Thank You" and "I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb.

The disclosure by Boltz was stunning news to former homosexual Greg Quinlan who is now with the New Jersey Family Policy Council.

"I’m absolutely shocked. I've got some of his CDs and cassette tapes –- tells you how long it's been around. When he says he's born that way, we know now for a fact that that's false. In fact, just last year in March, the director of the Human Genome Project, Dr. Francis Collins, said this: homosexuality is not hardwired. There is no gay gene. We mapped the human genome. We now know there is no genetic cause for homosexuality.

When asked about Boltz's homosexuality, The Gospel Music Association -- the group which gives out the Dove Awards -- told the Blade, "We do not comment on the lifestyle choices of people in our community.
"

According to Quinlan, by making such a statement the GMA seems to be "enabling a behavior that is totally inconsistent, incongruent with the message of the gospel.

I grew up on Ray Boltz, both of my parents had long been fans of his and his music was, along with Twila Paris, Michael W. Smith and Wayne Watson constantly playing in our house or car.

Now if you all sit perfectly still, and listen really quietly, you can hear the sound of 30,000,000 people shun the man all in perfect choreographic unison.

Not gonna take long for the boycotts to start rolling in.

So, what hope is there for Mr Ray, Mr Hope....?

Seems he's done damned himself to hell as far as many a Christian is concerned. And I'm sure many of them are never going to let him forget it........

Well I guess people on this forum can't or don't know how to read. So I will add this and again wonder if all the things I have read here about posters wanting respect, and expecting the same from others is true or just talk. If you want others to respect your views, no matter what they may be, you should also respect theirs. I Also did not post this as a subject to use to bash Christians, and will not dignify this thread with any more response from me. This is about human beings, not homosexuals, or anything else, there are a lot more people involved in this issue than Ray Boltz, like his family and children. So I will Hope that the posters here are mature and respectfull enough of them, and read the rules of conduct before they respond.

Again this was posted on the wrong thread.

Tragic is more like it. Because the opportunity exists here for Evangelicals and other Christians to love and support one of their own who, no doubt, IS going to experience lots of pain, rejection and a whole hell of a lot more.

But experience dictates that this is not going to be the case, rather, instead, will come the condemnations, the threats of damnation, boycotts, venom and various forms of hate speech toward someone whose only "crime" will be loving the "wrong" gender.

It doesn't matter that for almost twenty years he's spoken about Jesus, sang about Jesus. The last twenty years will suddenly mean nothing.

"...and the love of many will grow cold..." (Matthew 24:12b)
