We can go for years discussing history and matriarchal and patriarchal stuff. that woulld be fun, it would offer some insight into sexism in that we all came from all that.
Howerver, we are attempting to discuss sexism, and how it affects men , now . Since Cult no longer applies because he is a loner and is an observer, passive, yet very aggressive. I think men need no pats on the back for something they are perfectly capable of doing any more than women. I think our sons ought to be raised knowing nurturing, loving, care and all that comes with it, comes with living life, not gender. A man can cuddle and nurture and love and giggle, snuggle and cry, and make amazing things happen as easily as women. Dar |

My husband is a nurse. My best (male) friend at work is a social worker. Both are men in predominantly female jobs. As a result, I have gotten a clearer view than many of how much sexism is directed against men.
A guy in a female dominated field is often thought to be gay--stereotyping both men in nontraditional fields, and men who are gay at the same time. They get the kind of grief from women at work that would send many a woman getting the same behavior in a male-dominated field crying to the EEOC. Married mothers generally get the choice of whether to be a stay at home or parttime working mom. New fathers don't generally get that choice. There is plenty of male privilege--but it cuts both ways.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard was not what I meant...

Knowing that injustice of any type raises up my hackles, I must say, male privilege is one injustice that has harmed many; many generations over. My hackles are raised. Brace yourself. It's all the warning I intend to give. If a man needs to feel Anti-male sexism, and it's painful effect in order to get the messege to cut the crap, then i'm fine them being humilated. There is order, and justice, in being delt this blow. Men have, for far to long, been in power. Everything and everyone is connected. The thread that connects men and women is thin. In order to understand compassion you gotta get hurt. Men usually do the hurting. Africa is still in flames some 300 years on because of male privilege. What set Africa's rage in motion was male privilege and inhumanity. The threads intertwine. What I say is no small thing. Men need to take what they have thrust into this world for so long regardless of the man or time in which they now live. It's called karma, and it needs to be... It needs to be in order to get balenced. Men, take notice of the way evolution works. It is a messege to all of you that is long overdue. Harsh, maybe, but than look at your history...maybe not so harsh after all. |

LOL!! Diva, isn't it nice of cult to so nicely typify just exactly what male privilege is? Just because I get tired of seeing men being dumped on inappropriately doesn't mean I'll ignore when they do deserve being dumped on. Cult, you can start calling me Dr. REteach from now on. I would also note that real men are not intimidated by women. Only the insecure and weak men feel that way.

Cult, really, you should quit while your ahead. You have neither the stamina to debate me on this issue, nor the word POWER. You might hurt yourself-- all the nails you were spitting. Perfect example of what I was intending to point about men though. Thanks for the help. I think, I know, I am, woman. REteach, I know what you mean. No deviation from the jack booted thug, lock in step form, that I have become so fond of... I really regret that some good, honorable, men are caught up inside the collective karma that is necessary . But necessary it is, and morally correct. Men have got to feel the pain in order to learn the difference between loving guidance and force. " When you know better, you'll do better." Oprah Simply put, "many men STILL don't know any better." But, the mistake of force is in not recognizing it's aftereffect. Force brings pain, resentment, humiliation- then rage. Woman are enraged by all the senseless, destruction. We know it must be stopped. Rage brings lasting change. Enlightenment is slow to come to the weak willed and dim the witted. The POWERFUL WOMEN will just have to drag the stupid male tyrants, kicking and screaming into the light. But drag, we will do. You can count on it. |
