i'm a catholic. we don't believe in that. we have convents and monasteries and glorify the single life. it's only state that only requires one sacrament (helping grace) (baptism).

but i'll note that catholicism does say humans are social animals. socializing is necessary. in the middle ages, those hermits in their huts would have grates and folk would come up to the grate and talk and ask those hierophants to pray for them.
