I had a Subaru Wagon once. Pretty good little car.

It was one of the top selling vehicles for years (U.S. National sales) and had an excellent reputation in my region. I'm a Ford enthusiast and I've never had a lemon. I think it's lemons that tend to sour people on an entire company. I don't "hate" cars I've never driven unless I find them ugly. I also think people have horrendous driving habits and can absolutely beat the living daylights out of a car, judging it unfairly. How many people give themselves a 1/4 mile to break?

Templar, I think it depends on the engine too. My '98 was the dohc duratec. A really snazzy car with a lot of zip. Never a single problem with it. A/C went out on my older one, but no other mechanical problems whatsoever. I think A/C on Fords can be pretty weak though. It's failed on almost every pre-2000 model I've had.

The new Tauruses are absolutely fantastic. Sleek, sexy to my eye and gorgeous per my tastes. The eco boost V6 is an incredible machine too. The new SHO model is a brilliant performance car, finally making up for the late 90s SHO models that were awful.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gloaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.

With gas projected to hit 5 bucks a gallon, I wouldn't count them out yet here.

I haven't seen a Station Wagon in years, I always though they were rather nifty.

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle

The mini vans took over the family station wagons...IMO.

I went from a fully decked out van to a mini van years ago.  Raising four children we had to have a kid-mobile.  I traded in my last kid-mobile for my Miata in 2001.  I'm still driving her and shifting six gears and reverse.

A few years back we got Hank a mini van, and he drove it a couple of years until he got a new truck about 6 months ago.  The mini van went to our daughter and son-in-law as a present.  Son-in-law loves it to haul his keyboards and music equipment to gigs!  They have no children yet.

Our daughter and her hubby with two children have two mini vans.  The amazing thing about our oldest daughter and s-i-l is they park both vans in a two car garage with so much other stuff it.  It is kind of unreal to see it.  The daughter with one son also has a mini van.

Son drives a 1996 Chevy Impala SS his dad gave him.  That is our son's baby.  Don't ever see him driving a mini van.

Two years ago I bought my daughter a 3 y-o BMW 3X series SUV because she has a handicapped son with equipment that needs hauling. She loves it and so does he. (I paid cash.)

Different answers for different people.     ..................................

My son's family has an old mini-van now used by th two high school kids. He bought a Honda Civic and on the rare occasions all three children are on a trip. the one who sits in the middle in the back gets $50.; the other two get $20. Gotta luv this one. His son at MIT on scholarship doesn't need or want a car.
