Recent mild spring weather officially signaled the end of winter and threats of crazy snowfall for much of the United States.

So, who needs an excuse to go outside? How about to take part in a relatively obscure observance - No Housework Day?

The observance not only is a chance to enjoy doing anything other than household chores, but to encourage someone else to do them for you – at least for a day, according to one Web site.

“Housework is a daily, seemingly endless and repetitive groups of tasks. It often goes unrecognized and worst of all..... taken for granted. But, watch out! If the dishes aren't done, or there's no clean towels, somebody takes note,” according to www.holidayinsights.com, which provides information on obscure holidays.

Rochester, N.Y., resident Bob Matthews started the Web site with his family two decades ago, according to a story in the Ottawa Citizen.

“It became a fun hobby," Matthews said, “especially on those cold winter nights -- you know what western New York is like -- and slow seasons for my business. It took about three years and literally thousands of hours of research."

What household task(s) do you least like to do?

I despise it all, which is why I hire household help.  It simply isn't worth my time to do such things when I can make more money writing.  I do do laundry and dishes; if something spills and Elena isn't there, I clean it up, but beyond that, I make lists. :)

Reminds me of an old joke:

I hate housework!
You make the beds,
you do the dishes,
and six months later,
you have to start all over again.

My family just moved to a new place, so I must say unpacking is my least favorite household chore. It's too bad all those boxes can't magically unpack themselves... Happy No Housework Day, everyone!

I can handle the regular ones but I don't like the heavy duty ones like spring cleaning the cupboards, wiping down the doors etc. Tedious and boring.
