I've been through this so very, very many times on the Animal Rights board.  And I'm tired of trying to convince people who think they know what it's all about but, in reality, really haven't a clue.  (No offense, Mlyons, but this is a topic I've studied at university, thoroughly researched over the years, and discussed with both our GP and also dieticians.  I know what I'm talking about.  And no, it has nothing to do with looking stuff up online.)

Anyway, I don't suffer fools gladly (and I'm not referring to you, Mlyons) and I most certainly do not need this angst anymore so I'm out of here.

Yes you should let it go because you are trying to prove something that is not correct and Mlyons is correct.

I don't think you can say one is correct and the other is not. If you would just go and look at video of how animals are killed in the factories, you might change your mind. Yes, our bodies were made to be meat eaters, but our brains were made to reason. Life is precious, and when we kill to eat, we should do it with compassion, and quickly, not like it is being done in many places now.

1Co 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1Co 1:27  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Co 2:14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

omigawd, I actually agree with BOTH of you! Innocent --- After I saw those horrible domes cattle are forced to remain in all their short lives in order to serve the "veal industry", I stopped eating veal and will never touch it again. It's truly awful... I've also seen some of the conditions cattle live in here in So Cal... no pastures, nothing but mud and dirt and muck to live in all their lives before they become fodder for the machines. The matter of fact business as usual factories that slaugher animals we eat is very disquieting as well. For this reason, although I'm not a vegetarian (other than 1-2 days a week), I do try to purchase free range protein sources as much as possible.... The LEAST we can do is raise livestock in habitable living conditions out of gratitude and obligation.

As far as hot dogs go..... it is possible to find hot dogs and sausages that aren't made up of junk stuff we don't want to know about. That's why I go for kosher in the former and small American made sausage companies in the latter. Other than the content, parents can slice up the hot dogs into smaller pieces to make them safer for children... along with teaching them to chew their food thoroughly and dine at a slower pace.

So far I'm glad there are no calls to MANDATE different shapes of hot dogs to increase the safety.... it should be voluntary and COULD potentially turn into a nice little niche market for someone interested in filling it. Whoever undertakes this mission will have the AMA backing them. Smile

Tribalism, ethnocentricism, racism, nationalism, and FEAR is the Mind Killer... >:(
