Last year, it was in the news that small brain size was associated with obesity. We also had a brief discussion about this over here (CLICK). Now, such an association has at least two potential causal interpretations: small brains may cause obesity, or obesity may cause small brains. It appears that both may be the case, as new research - now published in Brain Research - shows: obesity seems to impact the reward system according to which the brain regulates food intake, which amounts to a vicious circle of self-enhancing obesity. I would read more about it -- but I can't remember where I put my Cheetos.

I'm right with you there, myt. I think they are over here with my Ding Dongs, but I can't be sure. Let's have some Cool Ranch Doritos and think about it.

If junk food shrinks the brain, then it should be heavily taxed. Processed food should also be taxed. There should be a special tax on all such foods.

LOL, where is my big mac!! Hey those kids featured on the first link are not obese, they are cute-chubby. Maybe, I have known a few obese individuals that are brilliant, very smart. They were sort of shameless epicurians. I think i would hesitate to tout this. I think what we are talking about here is obsessive eating and anyone can be obsessive, you don't need a special defective brain to do that. I just hesitate telling people "oh you are fat because you have a bad brain" Implying they can't control themselves. Which most likely they probably can control themselves, they are not incapable of making a change. I just hate to tell people that they are helpless to make changes because they are defective.

Uh....the study was about obesity, not junk food. It contained only 63 test subjects. That's hardly enough to come to a conclusion that would work for an entire species of almost 7 billion individuals.

It's not the size of the brain, it's how you use it.....

As long as there is no tax on posting bullsh*t, we are fine, I guess :-)

Uh, that's right. I notice now that I forgot to post this crucial source:

I have also seen an article out that says it does not matter the red meat it matters what you eat it with. Sort of speaking to that high fat, simple carb which would be a hamburger. Fatty meat, white bread bun.
Interesting. I have also been reading lately where sugar is damaging to skin and to brain cells. I am in trouble! I think the argument is for reducing processed foods.
