I currently take fish oil as one of my supplements, however once Project Conversion begins, I'll spend most of the year as a vegetarian. Any recommendations on what I can take instead of fish oil and still get my daily fatty acid dosage?
Flaxseed oil, borage, and evening primrose oil are all good sources of omega 3 fatty acids. Flaxseed oil, or a combination of flaxseed and borage, is usually the easiest to get as a dietary supplement.
The dosage would be somewhat higher, because vegetable sources have slightly less omega 3. If you take two fish oil capsules, you'd probably want three of flaxseed. And some people have adverse reactions to one kind of supplement but not another, so be aware of that. If what you switch to makes you feel bad, that's a sign it isn't right for you.
