This is a question for the alcoholics from a person who has only lived with alcoholism, not lived it.

Do (some, many, few?) alcoholics suffer from symptoms after ceasing drinking?  I mean, I know that mental/emotional symptoms can persist in sobriety.  What about physical symptoms?

Thanks!

Perhaps,

I know I've had something akin to a hangover occasionally. Dry mouth, headache, faint nausea. It seems (in my case) to correspond to severe emotional episodes. An Emotional Hangover, if you will.

I've also experienced periods of self-absorption so severe the result - for lack of a better word - is a blackout. I can't recall events. It's pretty disconcerting when you get out of your car and realize you can't recall the drive.

For me, these experiences kind of re-enforces the idea of bottles being a symbol.

I haven't experienced these symptoms since my last drink;

DUI

Drunkenness

Intoxication

Drunk-and-disorderly

Arrest

Jail

Go-to-Court

Drink-the-paycheck

You get the idea. Hope this helps

Mike

iT CAN TAKE A while but the body repairs itself,

it tends to work better if the spiritual side is repaired first.

Even science acknowledges that fact. Belief speeds recovery.
