Where's your favorite spot to relax and unwind? Is it your front porch? A park? Somewhere else?

My FAVORITE place would be a woods. But I dont get to do that much so my usual place is in my backyard with a small version we have. 3 big pine trees surrounded by smaller fruit and nut trees. I hate cutting the grass back there because it ruins the effect.

Sometimes it's on my back patio, or sometimes on my porch - depending on which one of my neighbors are out! (LOL!) If it's my noisy neighbors w/the out of control children - my porch is o-u-t, then I go to the back patio. Otherwise, laying across my bed w/a good book is about the best place.

I love unwinding on the beach on a warm day, late in the day. Just watching the waves, the gulls., the warm sand and sunset over the ocean and the sounds and smells are soothing. The rhythm of of the tide is a natural stress reliever to me. A blanket, my feet in the sand, an iced tea or glass of wine is all I need to unwind. Afterward, I can conjure the image in my mind whenever I want a quick vacation from it all.

Being by the ocean had been my favorite place to just take in the breezes and just "be".
However, I have moved to the midwest and haven't yet found an equivalent to the seashore atmosphere. As strange as this might sound, my therapist's office is now my favoriate place to unwind. It's in a two-story house, and it's very comfy, cozy and peaceful. Big plus is that I can completely be myself without judgment, and share good and bad times within the comfort of her relaxing room. |

Having lived in the country for 20 years, I would just go outside the house and get close to God's works to relax and destress. Now we've moved to town, and a town over 300 miles from our family. I can't just go out to the pasture to get away anymore so it actually means more to me when I can get "away from it all." We go to a wildlife refuge near us and spend the day with the longhorns, buffalo and all the wonderful trees and birds that God gave us as natural destressers. We make the trip at least twice a month when the weather allows and that way I can still get out of town and "back to nature."

I am with Gandalf, once a year I get to go hunting. There is a spot in New Hampshire where I go to see the sun come up over a lake in total stillness at 5AM and from 40 feet I can see my refection in the water. To hear the leaves fall and just be in the woods helps collect what sanity there is in the world. Will I ever get a deer - who knows, I haven't yet and really don't care but the excuse works for my wife.

My first choice would be by water but I'm not by any bodies of water, so I'll take the woods. I love green and I love the way the sunlight bounces off of leaves. I like to hear the breeze rustle in the leaves, too.
