for the last 6 years I've had back pain due to injury of my spine and muscular pain due to tearing of my right rhomboid major. I used to have knee issues, but they have mostly gone away due to custom insoles (high arch and wide foot causes knee pain - go figure). i also have asthma, which rarely rears its ugly head. i see a chiropractor regularly for my spine, and he is very aware of my muscle and is good at avoiding causing discomfort. I'm doing more PT for my muscle, and am generally used to living with a constant level of pain. I' on flexeril 5mg or 10mg for my muscle (one half to one pill), albuterol as needed and advair 250/50 for my asthma, and ibuprofen "as needed" for my back, which i usually dont take because im worried about my liver (im 20 and have been on painkillers since i was 14).

recently, however, I've been having some odd complications. Three times this year I've been admitted to the ER with severe lower right quadrant abdominal pain, naturally a worry for appendicitis. After hours of tests and scans, the doctors all come back with "everything we have tells us you're fine," and a prescription for either vicodin or percocet and bed rest.
the last time this happened was almost two months ago, and ever since then ive had a dull ache in my abdomen. the last month it turned into a burning sensation. it feels like i have coals smoldering in my guts, and the skin surface is hot to the touch. im not running a fever, and AGAIN there is no explanation for this from the doctors I've seen...and i have no idea what to do about it :( it varies from dull heat to searing pain, preventing me from sleeping, or if i wake up to it, preventing me from getting up.

BearHeart, I want to first say how unbearable that must be and I'm sorry you have to deal with this at such a young age!

Now I don't know much about this stuff as it is quite new to me but this just doesn't sound right. I mean there's gotta be something going on in your body. Have you thought about getting a second opinion? If you have insurance that will allow you to seek other help somewhere else maybe they could at least look at you. I can't imagine what you must be going through.

I know I'm not much help...but I thought you at least needed someone to hear you out and let you know you're being heard.
