An Alabama man convicted of raping a teenage girl will serve no prison time. On Wednesday, a judge in Athens, Alabama, ruled that the rapist will be punished by serving two years in a program aimed at nonviolent criminalsand three years of probation.

In September, a jury in Limestone County, in north central Alabama, found Austin Smith Clem, 25, guilty of raping Courtney Andrews, a teenage acquaintance and his then-neighbor, three times—twice when she was 14, and again when was she was 18.

Clem's defense attorney did not call any witnesses at trial, according to AL.com. After less than two hours of deliberation, the jury returned guilty verdicts against Clem on one count of first-degree rape and two counts of second-degree rape.

Americans, what the hell is going on with your judges and sex crimes lately?

If he had  used drugs he would have gotten a stiffer sentence. Rape is a violent crime, not a sex crime. How could this idiot judge send him to nonviolent offender treatment?

Some one said on another forum, Sharia law has come to Alabama, Not considering  rape a crime, no matter how young the victim. Females have no rights, because females don't actually count as human beings, to people like the rapist and the judge who let him off for the rape.

And yes Dave rape is not about sex, it is a violent crime about power and control. But as long as the violence is against females and children, some have no probelm, some consider  it acceptabtable. Teapublicans don't have a problem at all with it.

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle
