I love this expression so unique to Judaism. I know there may be a divergence of opinion among the Judaic Branches on this topic. Does the "World to Come" include the "Messianic Age" ushered upon the earth according to the commentators, and writters, from the Talmud, Mishnah, and Torah? Ive seem many Jewish based websites that seem to indicate this. Thank you. |

Olam Ha-Ba or "The World To Come" is the perfected state of the world after the advent of the Messiah. We know much about this from the Bible and Rabbinic writings. Many interesting things will happen that will be utterly unique from human history. The messianic age will last for 1,000 years. After this time we will be in the World To Come.
Weapons of war will be no more and there will be lasting peace The whole world will worship the one G-d of Israel Death will cease forever The dead will be resurrected There will be no illness or hunger The nations will recognize the wrongs they have done Israel Pretty cool, huh? Olam Ha-Ba is the destiny of the world. It is the regaining of something humanity lost in the Garden of Eden. Hope this answers some of your questions!

It was a wonderfully articulated answer. One thing that impresses me with the Judaic faith is that it doesnt "pretend" to be the middle man for God. It seems to me most branches of Judaism look at themselves as "guides" and fellow travellers rather then His Channel, or Spokesmen, as Christendom's sects sometimes portray themselves. IMHO. |
