All in all what I see here is simply proof that one need to studiously and prayerfully get one’s own testimony. We can only rely on God for that sure knowledge of gospel points. Even if the LDS Church ceased this racist policy because of not wanting to lose the BYU tax exemption, The 1978 change was the right thing to do. I would prefer to assign a nobler motivation to the Brethren than simply wanting to save money. The action seemed inspired, why not leave it at that?
