Having an LDS Elder, as the main character, giving the fallen Christ a blessing was certainly a novel concept for a painting. So many historical characters in this scene of Jesus carrying the Cross on the Via Dolorosa. Having President Obama, Joan D'Arc, Mark Twain and Walter Cronkite on the same canvas was an eye treat. www.mcnaughtonart.com/images/image_map_z...

The main character is an LDS Elder? If you mean a missionary, he's not wearing the signature name tag. I couldn't find any reference to his being LDS on the artist's website.

Acts, it looks to be an LDS Elder, perhaps even a returned missionary with the haircut, suit and tie. Given that McNaughton is LDS, what possible meaning could such a scene represent other than as an LDS Elder giving a blessing to the fallen Christ? Hopefully, the young man was not there to sell Amway products.

The main action in the photo makes no sense unless you realize that McNaughton is LDS. The scene depicts a young LDS Elder giving a weary Jesus a blessing so that he may have the strength to carry his Cross to Golgotha. The movers and shakers of history are there to bear witness to the power and the majesty of the LDS Priesthood.
