If you are interested in the the Arthurian times, you might want to get the Pendragon series of novels by Stephen Lawhead. His Taliesin novel is my all time favorite fantasy. The rest of the series is great as well.

Not that there is inherently anything wrong with enjoying modern fiction, but if one is interested in the Arthurian myths and legends, they'd be much better off going to the source material.
