You  know the verse in Revelation 14  stating, in most publishers' versions if not all,  that  the  beast   shall  cause  ALL  to  receive a  mark  in  order  to  buy and sell?

Well, I  just  thought  of  something.   "We  shall  not  all  sleep",   and   "The  dead in Christ shall  rise  first,  then  we  that  ARE  ALIVE  AND  REMAIN......."

So,  evidently  some  of  us    can  somehow  survive  not  being  able  to  buy  or  sell,  right?   Is  the  word  "All"  a  mistranslation,  or  is  it  just meaning  he  TRIES  to  cause  all  to  receive  his  trademark  but  doesn't  totally  succeed?    What  are  some  additional thoughts  on   this  subject?

shall cause all to receive the mark in his head or in his hand.    I would think all those living will receive the mark because if you don't you'll be killed?   Maybe thats why it says all will have it because those that didn't receive it died.

It actually says in your head or hand not on your head or hand.    This is interesting because  I heard somewhere ( can't provide link cause can't remember where I heard it) that someone somewhere is working on these chips with your financial info on it.   They will be planted in your hand so that when at the store you just swpe your hand.    Its creepy.   Even though many will laugh at me I wouldn't have it done.  Just in case this is the mrk referred  to in the Bible.   Who would be able to prove it was or wasn't but Im not taking any chances.

This thread has been silent for quite a long time, my own, and I'm replying to my own.

Just  a  reminder  that. don't  they  say  pets'  ID  implants  cause  cancer?

IMHO  just believing  the  beast's and beastly false prophet's  lies  and going along with him  would  probably  be   "the mark".   Of  course I don't claim to know definitely.  But  we  know  in  2nd  Thessalonians 2,  it  says  whoever  believes  him  will   "perish".   I'm obviously just guessing,  not  claiming  this  is  definitely  it and not claiming the Bible definitely describes  the  mark, not that I know of.

Im not up on my bible as I should be.   Its possible wht you say, that some don't receive and still live.   But Im wondering if their lifes will be hard and full of harassment.      What ever happens I believe it will be gradual.   also not before he shows himself.  One who exalts himself above and opposes all that is called God.   chapter 2 is interesting reading

Kim, I think you're right that holdouts would be given a very hard time.   Definitely.

As you and everyone here probably  know,  Jim Bakker  is  back  on  TV,  selling  survival  provisions,  like  a  really  great looking  fuel-less  generator,  that  will  fit  into  a  box  that's  sort  of   like  a  suitcase,   Don't  know  if  that's  included  for  the  $1900,  but  a  handsome  folding   solar  panel  is  included,  which  would  be  approximatly  $500  separately.

I  have to agree  with  him  that  a  Great Tribulation  such as the world has  never  known before  and  never  will  again   would   most  likely   loss  of   electricity,   water  supply  too.  I'm  hoarding  jugs of  drinking water, 88 cents,  from the grocery  store, have been keeping them  in  the  garage.  During the hottest part of summer,  just one or two  didn't  hold up, should have been in the basement.   He's   also  selling   some  foods  with  20-yr  shelf life,  not  sure  if  they're  freeze-dried  or  what,  tomatoes, corn, and I think they say peas, or was it  green beans?   No  meat.  Storage space  for  all  that  would  be  a  very  big  problem, and for enough jugs of water, right?  And how would we pay our property taxes  if  the  beast and false prophet and their underground  get  our currency changed? We'd  be  fatally taking the mark of the beast if we accepted and used that currency, right?

How long  would  canned  meats  last?   I  doubt  this  Trib  would  be  that long, don't you? Already  Israel  is  surrounded  by  enemies,  which  is  one  of  the  signs  in  Revelation.

I'm glad  someone  else  here  is  interested.   Have  a  good  day.

Another view is that the mark of the beast is Emperor worship which Babylon (Rome) was forcing upon its citizens. This would put Revelation into its context rather than look for some 'event' today.

Thanks, Birwin, for the reply.

Lots  of  people  believe  as  you  do.   Personally,  I'm  sure  you'll  forgive  me  for  my  opinion  that   John  on  Patmos   well  knew  Rome  was  no  big  deal  in  The Big Picture,  that  The  Great  Tribulation  would   be  so  much  worse   than  anything  Earth  has  ever  seen,  or  ever  will  again.

Can't  claim  to  know  assuredly  exactly  what  "the  Mark of the Beast"  is,  but  since  we  know  2nd  Thess.  2   tells  us   not   to  believe   his   lies,  or  we'll  PERISH,  with  strong  delusions,  PROBABLY  believing him  is  at  least  PART  of  taking  his  mark,  and  just  going  along  with  him.

Peter  tells  us,  toward  the  end  of  the  NT,  when  someone  preaches  something  other  than  Christ,   he's  an  antichrist.

I  think that's important  to  remember,  because  one  of  the  scattered  clues  about  his  ID  is  that  "He  teaches  hatred  in  the  house  of  his  God".

Another  important  clue  is  his  continuing  insane  persecution  of  a  Christian  woman, IN THE TIME OF  FLYING,  and  other  technology,  see   Revelation  12  where  she  flies  on  two  wings of a GREAT  eagle  (nation, obviously)  to  a  different  location  than  where  she  first  encountered  the  beast  and  his  partner  the  false  prophet.  Probably  she's  also  the  woman  in  the  short and sweet book of  Micah,  probably  in  Nixon  days,  when  he  visited  Golda  Mier,  and  probably  some  watergaters  wanted  to  try  out  watergating  technology on this woman.   A  Bible  college  my  husband  and  I  attended  in  54 and 55  sends  out  alumnae  newsletters,  and  one  boasted  that  some  of  the  former  students who  we  knew  had  visited  Lachish,  which  is  only  an  archeology  dig  now,  I  read somewhere.  Those teaching hatred instead of  Jesus  were from an anti-instrumental music  denomination, always  criticizing the other denominations,  as  well as a woman  musician.  It's  probably  dangerous  to  say  too  much  about  our  tentative  private opinions,  so, I just recommend you take the tour through ancient Micah and realize to "Look Upon"  the  woman  would  require  some  Nixon-days  technology,  right?   Are  all  who  "look upon"  her, violating  her,  actually  "taking the mark of the beast"?   Personally  I  might vote yes. Reagan  seemed to get a lot of letters but  evidently made up a new law instead of  defending our Constitution,  that  "Only a victim has standing to complain".  IMHO  he was probably  the  head  (of state) who  received a  normally  deadly  wound  but  survived.  Also notice  a  clue  to  the  ID  of  the  woman  in  Rev. 12,  "her  house is made desolate",  probably  because  she's  warned  her  children  they might get persecuted too and to keep a low profile,  "but her OTHER  children"  are  all the  saved.  Some  make her out to be the church,  but  in  some  of  the  scattered  OT  clues,  she's  called  a  TOWER,  who's  AMONG  the  FLOCK.   The  church  is  not  "among  the  flock",  and  its  house isn't made  desolate.  We  could  probably  go  on  and  on  and  on  citing  the  differences.  Men  either  don't want to acknowledge the woman  because of  simple  sexism, or,  there's a  prophecy  that  men  will  say  "Who can fight the beast?"  He  probably  belongs to that worldwide "city" or  organization, since there can't be a  literal worldwide city, that  RULES  KINGS  OF  EARTH.  Last  verse,  if  I  remember  correctly,  of  Rev. 17 or  18  or  thereabouts.   Happy  reading.  New  question,  are  this  couple  also  The Two Witnesses?  Rev. 11, who get killed.  Because  the number of  days  of  their  testimony  and  the  woman's  are  the  same,  approximately  1267 (?) "days", maybe not literal  days.  Sorry, I  forget the exact number.

My  family and I  want  to  be  here  to  see  Jesus  coming in the clouds.  Sure  hope  it's  not  us.   "All  flesh  shall  see  it  together."  Let us know if you agree with this theory.  Have a nice day.

Thankyou for your reply. I respect your opinion and interpretation. I,also held a similar view for many years until I realised that I was reading back into what John wrote an interpretation begun by Jesuit priests to counter the reformation. They set up a 'dispenstional' approach in order to discredit the protestants. Their view was taken up by J N Darby and later incorporated into the Scofield Bible and taken up by the Pymouth Brethren. It then became a widespread belief in USA and was almost the 'evengelical' view ' but was opposed by the reformed view to which I now adhere.

What is important is that:

1. we be careful of reading modern events into Scripture

2 and even more importantly we respectfully agree to differ

In the end we must always remain humble about our own interpretation of Scripture otherwise we usurp the work of the Spirit of God and end up in the sin of idolatry.

Blessings on you

Good morning, and Blessings to you also.   I'll  read  your  post  again  after  another  cup  of  coffee.   I  meant  to  say earlier,  I  don't  disagree  entirely  about  "Emporer  Worship",  like "taking the mark of the beast".

Humility, yes.   No  scripture  is  of  any  private  interpretation.   I  try to remember  to use the  expression  "my tentative theory".

However,  "The Beast" 666,  and his  partner  the beastly false prophet, teaching hatred in religion  are  MODERN,  a time of  trouble  such as the world has never known  before.  Compared  to  the  End  Times,  ancient  Rome  was  nothing.   Why  should  we  keep  trying  to  tie  the  Beast  times to Ancient History?  This is in the time of  flying.  Notice in Revelation 12, the violated and persecuted Christian WOMAN  flies  to  some  new  location  from where  she  first encountered  the  two.   Also, cross  reference,  OT  Micah   tells  about  some  group conspiring at  Lachish  to  "Look Upon"  this  woman  the  beast  is  always  lying about,  and you  have  to  admit  it  would  require  some  very  modern  technology  to  "look upon"  anyone  by  corrupting their  BODY.  I  saw  a  book in the public library one time while looking up something else, titled something like  Electronics in Medicine, with  lots more  warnings than usual  about  copying or quoting.  It's been so long that I couldn't  quote  anyway, but  I  think  it was just  temporariy  wiring of a  patient  so the nurses  could  monitor him or her better.

Can  you  define Communism?   I'm  on  my  way  to  doing a  search for an exact  definition, and  asking  if  masonic  New World Order  is  actually  Communist.  Not sure I really want to know, of course.

Obviously, I  don't  care  a fig about  the  Scofield  Bible or  THEORIES  FORMED  BEFORE WE  KNEW  ALL  THIS  THAT I'M BRINGING UP, WHICH  IS  IN THE BIBLE  AND NOT TO BE DENIED. We're  not  to  take  away  or  add  one  word  to  the  everlasting  Word.  The people  you're  quoting  were  mere humans  like you and me,  obviously  DIDN'T  KNOW  all  this.

Solution:  We're  to  PRAY FOR WISDOM  and  understanding,  James  1,  and the Lord will give  to us  generously, in  His  good  time.  We  may  not  want  to  be  "The Man Who Knew Too Much", in  "perilous  times",  but  "We  shall  not  ALL  sleep," but  THEY, not just the woman,   defeat  the accuser of the brethren, by The Blood, and The Word of their testimony,  Revelation 12.  BTW,  I  don't  think  John mentions  Rome  at  all  in  the  whole  book,  even though Rome  had  put  him  in  exile  there.  He  knew to put  it  in  proper  perspective, that  actual  Rome  wouldn't  last  long.  Maybe you're saying  NWO  or something, a/k/a babylon with a lower case b  is  LIKE  ancient Rome,  dictator  worship in order to  be able to even  buy and sell  in  the  marketplace.

I  think "the accuser of the brethren"  and  of  the  Christian  woman  whose  house is made desolate,  but  whose other children are all the saved  because  she's right,  tells  all  the  preachers, and anyone  who'll  listen,  that the Christian  woman  "bragged",  stays  worried about a  "past",  etc., etc., just to get attention for himself.  He's  probably  "the little horn with the bragging mouth",  projecting his own  faults  onto  scapegoats.  2nd Thess. 2 says if you even believe him,  you'll  PERISH.   I  GUESS  he's  allowed, by Our Maker,  as  a  final  loyalty test  for  us.  He  fools  7 or 8  "heads" (of  state,  we can know because one  was  wounded  but  survived)  for  "a  time, times, and half a time",  not  necessarily  a  literal 3 and a half  yrs or 42 literal months.  I  haven't  figured up how long  those heads' terms of office would have been, not necessarily consecutive  heads of state, and some will have had two terms.   Everything  seems to fit  America,  for instance  the woman flying on two wings of a  GREAT  eagle.  There's  some smaller nations  with an eagle  mascot, I've heard.

Scofield, etc.  aren't  as  ancient  as  the  whole  Bible,  are not in any way equal to it.  You  could  probably  form thories  now independently of them and do just as well.   They were probably  also  called  Modern   at  the  time  they  formed their  interpretations-theories.   We  can't  be  absolutely  positive  about  every  detail  UNTIL  IT  HAPPENS,  must  wait and see,  about  some  of  it.   I  for  one, growing older and not  liking surprises,  am  so  thankful  that  we  have  all  this  advance  warning to think about and discuss.  After this election, if not before,  we  may  see  some  of  it  becoming  clearer  to  us.

Have a nice  day.
