Our enemies critized us for not buying a political identification card, only 25 cents , in Malawi. The political parties closed down our kingdom halls , burned them too, confiscated the bank accounts, stipped JWs almost naked, chased them out of the country. The persecuted witnesses managed to take a feew animals with them, and gathered outside the country of Malawi. Then brothes all over the world set up the refugee camps and established order and they were fed and clothed, while in Malawi , war broke out, and the military took fighters as young as 12 into the military. These were needed on the small farms that furnished food for families. So food shortages became worse, and thousands each day starved to death... but JWs were not there. They were in those refugee camps and fed even spiritualy. No political involvment saved their lives. |

The Soviet union also became communist. People were ordered to attend communisic meetings. JWs fled to distant areas rather than belong to that political party. The government had told the people that produce would be shared, no one any better than another. But that government sold the produce to buy military weapons, and millions died of starvation. JWs were in mountain areas. They did small farming, fishing, and had food. Scarcely populated areas also had food. They did not attend those political meetings. They were no part of the world , so they survived. Some were arrested and sent to Siberia during the world war. They continued to preach and teach. They at 1st were treated very cruelly but the guards also learned the truth, as taught by JWs in that camp. Literature was smuggled in. So was a small printing press. They held meetings after the work of cutting wood to supply the fuel to heat houses in Russia. Lowell Thomas a world wide famous newsman wrote an article in the Readers Digest after visiting that camp. He learned that it was one place in Russia that fredom of speech, press, and religion was practiced. JWs had taugt other political disidents that were sent to that camp, and they also taught the guards. The war ended, and out of that camp came double JWs than went in. Then they preaached in the many places they had come from.. And now , in the big country formerly Russia and now divided into states, JWS have had very large attendance at the assemblies... The obidience to no part of the world at Jn 17 saved ther lives , for they did not take part in the war, and they did not starve to death nor freeze to death when the war was ongoing and fuel was scarce. |

Rebellons are taking place all over the world. Goverments are being overthrown. Are JWs a part of the rebellions that are full of violence? No they are not. But they also are not a part of that world. And again just as in other times , they are saved by obedience to the command of Jesus to be peaceful among all men,, the term among all men is speaking of the different nations of which we are no part of. People are fearful. They think the nation in which they are born in , should be protected. So they are anxious and may join into that rebellion. Are they being no part of the world if they take part in the rebellions.? Jesus said quite clearly in John 17 .. my followers are no part of the world. So again the benefits of not being caught up in those rebellons are plain to see IF they have full faith in Jesus. |

Some will say,I am in the world and we must obey the authorities... fine advice, for Jesus himself said we must obey the authorites. But who is the supreme authority. Do you know what authority to obey? Suppose your parents put an older member of the family in charge while they left for a while. And suppse that other authority said lets go and ruin the neighbors crops. They arent very nice to us so lets go and teach them a lesson that they cannot treat us badly. Now that older person is in charge but those under him know that the parents will not approve of what he plans to do. Which authority will they obey. Should the children obey all that the person in charge says to do, or will they say no our parents will not like us to do that. So too with nations. We have the right to say no to a givernment that is telling us to do what Jehovah will not approve. Does Jehovah and Jesus want peoples in other nations to wage wars. Can we kill peoples in other lands? |
