Having a girly moment... what do you lovely Muslim ladies love to wear? What is your #1 favorite item or outfit in your wardrobe (or fantasy wardrobe)? Is there a favorite fashion website you like? I was thinking about modest outfits and grudgingly acknowledging that some of my favorite pieces in my closet are less than completely modest (at least without some modification), but cheered up when I discovered the Maysaa website, which has some very chic, very modest apparel. So gals, what do you love to wear?

When visiting relatives in Kuwait, I wear colorful, but modest, traditional Muslim clothing including a hijab. The same is true if I go to a mosque anyplace. When in the US or any western country and off duty I wear typical, western clothing, jeans, skirts, shorts, whatever depending upon what I'm doing, and no hijab. When working, I'm usually wearing a flight suit Kiss and of course no hijab!

My family members still in Kuwait naturally don't wear western style clothing, and if I lived there I would not either.

There are many great websites on which you can find all sorts of attractive outfits that are appropriate for moderate or even strict (though not the burqa or ayaba crowd) Muslims. We MINOs (Muslims in name only, which is for the most part what everyone in my family and my husband's who are Americans really are) don't worry about this much, though, as I said, I do wear appropriate clothing when at the mosque out of respect.

Now underneath your outer clothing, sister, you can go completely 'girly'. I often do that even under my uniform! And Hassan (husband) loves knowing that no matter how 'proper' I may look outwardly, beneath it are some sexy things only he gets to see.

You asked, sister!

Salaam,

Aisha

Mmm.... I shop from all kinds of places!

One of my favorite for every day clothing is Shukr... it's fair trade clothing on top of it so it's good :)

Then I buy from thehijabshop.com ... I usually don't wear abayas but they have a nice range of modern looking ones... and some tops that are nice too.

I also like Setrms but then I have to find someone who's going to Turkey to order some.

Usually a pair of wide pants/skirt and a long shirt/tunic/etc. is my to-go outfit.
