When visiting relatives in Kuwait, I wear colorful, but modest, traditional Muslim clothing including a hijab. The same is true if I go to a mosque anyplace. When in the US or any western country and off duty I wear typical, western clothing, jeans, skirts, shorts, whatever depending upon what I'm doing, and no hijab. When working, I'm usually wearing a flight suit
and of course no hijab!
My family members still in Kuwait naturally don't wear western style clothing, and if I lived there I would not either.
There are many great websites on which you can find all sorts of attractive outfits that are appropriate for moderate or even strict (though not the burqa or ayaba crowd) Muslims. We MINOs (Muslims in name only, which is for the most part what everyone in my family and my husband's who are Americans really are) don't worry about this much, though, as I said, I do wear appropriate clothing when at the mosque out of respect.
Now underneath your outer clothing, sister, you can go completely 'girly'. I often do that even under my uniform! And Hassan (husband) loves knowing that no matter how 'proper' I may look outwardly, beneath it are some sexy things only he gets to see.
You asked, sister!
Salaam,
Aisha
