Purpose: To raise awareness and give a clear call to all of the Nations of God's people to come and be a part of the most urgent mission field of North America and possibly the world, the Native Nations!
DID YOU KNOW… Average life expectancy of Native Americans: 44 years (74 is national average)
Native Americans have a one-in-ten chance to be a victim of violent crime (more likely than any other group in this country).
1 out of 3 Native Americans live beneath the poverty line.
Native American has the highest rates of * alcohol abuse * drug abuse * and suicide in the country
"Our families need their fathers, we need Hope. Our men are either High, Dead, or in Prison!" - Native Woman on Reservation
There are 4.2 million native people living in the United States 562 federally recognized Indian tribes Less than 3-5% of Indian people are churched
NATIVE AMERICA is arguably North America's most urgent mission field. How can we bring the HOPE of Jesus to Native America?
Here's One Way:
The plan is, to have the Native Ministry leaders come and share their hearts with several churches and universities across Chicago and surrounding suburbs at their Sunday morning services and weekly chapels. The leaders will also invite the people at those churches and universities to come together at Barrows Auditorium in the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College later Sunday evening on April 18th, to have a night of celebration and seeking God for His vision and plans for Native Ministry across America! What a great night of unity and worship and call to missions as we seek God and Build Bridges in Jesus name!
Please,be praying for this event and the ministries and churches involved. Please, pray that God would be glorified and His Kingdom advanced through this event and that many people would attend and hear the call to reach the lost and hurting Native Nations with the hope and love of Jesus Christ!
We look forward to seeing you there and working together side by side as a wonderful family of God for His Kingdom! Keep an eye on this web site for more information and mark your calendars and save Sunday, April 18th at 7:00PM for the “Many Nations, One Savior - Conference and Celebration" at the Barrows Auditorium in the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College !!!

And it would be my argument because people turn to Christianity and turn away from our Traditions and Ancestor's ways, that is the reason we suffer. Christianity is not for us and ways were not meant for us.
Mother Earth is governed by a set of Principles, Laws and Values
Leadership exists to serve the people first
Leadership existence is to ensure that information (Truth) is given to the people
Changes are the result of implementing Natural laws
All Native people believe in a Supreme Being
In the Elders and teachings as a guiding force to direct ourselves, families and communities
That there is a natural order running the universe
That our traditional ways were knowledgeable about the natural order
When the community leads, the leaders will follow
Alcohol and drugs are destroying us and we want to recover
That change comes from within the individual, the family and the community
That within each person, family and community is the innate knowledge for well being
The solution resides within each community
Interconnectedness - it takes everyone to heal the community
Healing will take place through he application of cultural and spiritual knowledge
Alcohol is a symptom...not the cause, drugs are a symptom...not the cause, Domestic Violence is a symptom...not the cause. To "heal a community" it needs to deal with the cause
That the Circle and the Four Directions are the Teachers
In the Four Laws of Change
Change is from within
In order for development to occur, it must be preceded by a vision
And it would be my argument because people turn to Christianity and turn away from our Traditions and Ancestor's ways, that is the reason we suffer. Christianity is not for us and ways were not meant for us.
I could see how you feel this way.......with all that has been done in the name of religion. For me Real Christianity is God's Love displayed in it's fullest real sense. For God so loved that He gave....His one and only Son! It is putting other first. I mean no offense but, I believe you are mistaken. I have seen the transformed lives and Hope brought to life in Jesus!!!

OUR CULTURE IS PREVENTION
No offense intended but, as I go to the reservations I see this failing. Knowledge of a Supreme Being does not bring peace when you are face with the shame of the sinful results of our lives. We all fail and are self centered. Oh yes some try to do good but, the Bible says none are good enough. All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, My self especially! I am nothing God is everything and the amazing thing is He loves me, and you, even though we are by nature His enemies.
Still, He sent His one and only Son Jesus to die as an offering for our sins, that we may accept the free gift of eternal life. It is all about God's Love and has nothing to do with our religions and religiousness or our pretend holy sounding language we use. We can talk about God but, can we do what He calls us to do? Lay our lives down to help others and put others first and love people as He does! This is not what saves us and gives us eternal life, that is a gift from Jesus! This happens as a result and realization of how Amazing His Grace really is, We are changed by Jesus moving on our lives!
My prayer is that all people would come to know just how much Jesus really loves us!!!
And it would be my argument because people turn to Christianity and turn away from our Traditions and Ancestor's ways, that is the reason we suffer. Christianity is not for us and ways were not meant for us.

You did mean offense and your forked tongue will not prove otherwise. You came to OUR traditional's forums and preach your Christianity to us. This isn't a Native American Community board; this is a Native American (Traditional) Faith Community board.
You may say as you say, but your religion has caused MORE problems than ours. Your ways are what causes havoc on reservations and are less symptons of religion and rather symptoms of Greed.

Wow.....the forked tongue line was good, for a minute I thought I had drifted into an old western! LOL
For the record, Christianity is not the Whitman's Gospel. This excellent book by a Native man by the name of Craig Smith, really communicates this well, check it out!
Also, the Native men who are speaking at this event and coming to it happen to believe in Jesus and have for generations. So it is, their faith and their God and in such should be discussed as part of the Native culture and beliefs, just as much as whatever god you follow.
I know some Native people carry a lot of hurt and anger but, I have followed your comments and the other gentleman who posted on this thread and I think you both enjoy talking to people with disrespect and contempt. You also sound as racist as the people who have hurt your people for generations. The interesting thing is you are becoming like the people you hold in contempt. I understand this comes from pain and protecting ones self but, I think you may want to guard against being eat-in up from the inside out by your hate.
I did not personally hurt the Native people but, I believe we as a Nation owe them an apology and better support and we need to make up for lying to them at every turn. Yes, the white man has spoke with, as you say forked tongue but, we all lie and all are deceitful at times. So jump on down off that high horse and lets talk. Better yet, lets find a way to heal the past and move forward.
I read Craig Smith's book Whiteman's Gospel before going on a mission trip with some friends. It points out that we need to stop going on these trips with the attitude we have something the Native people need and just start by loving them the way Jesus calls us to love all men, no matter what race they may be. I asked Jesus to give me His heart for Native people and He has. I do not need to defend my self to you. My life and my actions speak for them self as many Native people and other races can attest to. I take this time in hopes of healing the pain I see in the posts on this tread. We all need that healing and we all need to respect each other. I have found my healing in Jesus and I hope to share it with whoever will listen but, not as one better than anyone else. Just one begger telling other beggers where he found bread!
Did you have to prove my point? BTW, using Forked Tongue today is just as new as it was yesterday. Seriously, you think it's that old to say someone twists truth with that saying? I grew up being told not to have a forked tongue!
Also, I never said they weren't indian who were speaking. I said I would be there to tell them to not follow those ways and return to worshiping like their ancestors. It's better for us IMO.
Chitto Harjo... Phillip Deere etc I'm not saying new things.
You can say I am being racist but there are Asian Christians who go bombing things in South East Asia, there are Black Christians just as guilty of the normal atrocities associated with other Chrisitians, etc It's not the Race it's the Faith. Truly you sound like the confused one.

Greetings MilesB,
I really wish we could talk face to face. I like your willingness to stand for what you believe in and I believe we would be friends. I sometimes do not like communicating with the written word because so much is left out and it can sound harsher then it was intended.
I do not want to go back and forth with words of defensiveness and disagreement, yet I have. I also know that, we all can't agree on everything. But, we can agree on this. White men of which I am one, have hurt your people in so many ways. I am truley sorry for that and am trying to correct that as best I can. Also, many wrongs have been done in the name of Jesus Christ and He is who I follow. I would also like to apologies for that and make amments.
I fear that too much hurt has happened in the past and pressent to change the past but, I believe change can happen now. One person at a time! But, we all have to take responcability for our part. I fear my people have been slow in doing this. So how could I be so nieve to expect you to trust me just because I say, I mean no harm but, want to help.
Forgive me for judging your anger also, who am I to judge? I have not walked in your pain, I am sorry for that. My heart means good but, does not know how to do that towards my Native brothers. That is why we are having this conference. So we white people can follow their lead. They are the leaders, we are the followers for a change. We need to humble ourselves and I have not been humble. Please forgive me!
"White men of which I am one, have hurt your people in so many ways. I am truley sorry for that and am trying to correct that as best I can. "
Uhhh Have you seen my picture? My father is a white man, I am half white. And yes my ancestors were hurt by Americans. They were black, white, red, and even yellow. They all claimed to be Christian though.
I do not walk with any pain... TenLionz did we go back in time???
