Please Note:  Jews who practice Judaism, of whom I am one, do not consider 'Messianics' to be Jews, religiously speaking.

IF one follows the most ancient ways, then a person would have to BE a Jew first - either by being born to a Jewish mother, or by converting formally to Judaism.  And then they could affirm their belief in Jesus as Messiah - a belief which from the Jewish POV, is a renunciation of Jewish religous identity.

As a Jew-who-practices-Judaism, I have to wonder - why wouldn't you just remain a Catholic?  Do you not find fulfilment in your Church's beliefs?  Over half of my relatives are Christian, quite a few RCC :  it's a religion of many beautiful traditions (and the BEST!!!!  music, IMHO)

Now, I can't properly discuss this any further ON THIS BOARD.  I'd like to invite you to join me over on the DISCUSS MJ board, where there's a great deal of information available for you to consult.

You can send me a private message through B'net if you wish  ))

Well, I found out that it took 300 years for The Lord's Day of the Saturday Sabbath to be changed to the day of Sunworship--and that to please the pagans.  I was not concerned, except that the Israelites were constantly told to not take-up the practices of the nations around them.

After months of running into this admonition from the Creator, I decided that the Isrealite nation has some  esoteric energies in their style and commands, and I decided to try it.  It is really very nice to have a calm Winter instead of one riddled with the colors of leprosy and the lights of Spring flashing around my house.  It is nice to have Holy Days that are filled with options, instead of holidays that drain me.  It is nice to have the peace I feel instead of the feeling of being led around in a wide circle or along some slow progression.

I do accept Jesus as the physical expression of G-d, with the Father staying out of our sin-filled energies, in order to keep pure those energies that allow variety without much friction occurring among the varied people.  Eventually, the most wicked will be punished and destroyed in Hell.  The more righteous will be taught during the Millenium--prepared for a sensible Eternity.

Just guessin here, but as a Christian already, you would have read Romans 11 where it says that gentiles have ben grafted on the family tree. So no conversion needed! Simply listen for God's voice  and begin to follow the things already outlined in Scripture. Also check out for Pastor Larry Huch's website.

I changed from mainstream Christianity to Messianic Judaism and sat under the teachings of a Messianic Rabbi.  No conversion necessary basically because you continue your belief in Jesus as the Son of G-d.  If you wanted to convert to Judaism you would not believe Jesus is the Son of G-d and would therefore need to convert.

I too feel freedom from the pagan practices and rituals of Christianity.  If you can't find what you're doing/celebrating in the scriptures ~ why are you doing it?  And what is the true root of what you're celebrating?  When those WWJD bracelets first came out years ago I was sitting in  Christian church on a Sunday.  It hit me like a baseball bat to the head that Jesus would be teaching in a synagogue on a SATURDAY - so what was I doing there????  That was my last day in a Christian church and my first day of really finding out what G-d said vs. church doctrine (aka man).

Best Wishes on your new journey!!  :0)

Hello,

To clear things up, true Judaism is to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah who fulfilled the law that God gave to Moses. The Judaism that is practiced today is not what Jews are suppose to be doing.

If you are a Catholic who feels that you don't need to pray to Jesus Christ for God to hear your prayers, then you would have to accept that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior. I actually was surprised to meet a young gal in her 20's who said that she is Catholic and would just pray to God without believing she needed to go through Christ for God to hear her prayers. The Bible says that there is one mediator between man and God and that is Jesus Christ.

Once you do this, you no longer need to confess your sins to a Preist, and you don't have to worry about people telling you you are not saved because you went to a Schismatic Church. Which is actually a doctrine that can be found at Catholic.com

Is this an official doctrine of your sect?  And do you know what it is that Jews-practicing-Judaism are practicing?  If so, then what is your disagreement with it?

BTW, just what is it supposed to mean, 'fulfil the law'?   Laws are followed to some extent or not - this doesn't make sense to me.

You seem to be saying that doctrinally you see no difference between 'MJ' and Christianity - so why attack Jews-practicing-Judaism?

I'm left wondering what kind of 'faith' it is which begins a discussion by slamming an entire religion as 'not doing what they're supposed to'.

It is interesting how supersessionists invariably claim that everything that existed millenia before their particular sect came on the scene is "....not what Jews are supposed to be doing."  Yell
