Hi, all,

I posted this on the Shamanism board.  Maybe everyone here already knows about this, and knows how to help if they are able; but just in case, I'll post it here, as well.

Bright blessings to you all,

Kay

Right now, in North and South Dakota, traditional Native people are suffering.  Without help, many may die.

Here is a link for a “diary” – a posting on a website called dailykos.  It’s primarily a socio/political website, but because the people there are mostly liberals it occasionally focuses on humanitarian issues.

After the introductory story, you can find links to ways you can give money to help out.

I'm surprised.  I didn't think you had such contempt for people based solely on race.

Actually, I just went back and checked, and the post I linked to was actually written by an Indian woman.  In addition to posting at Dailykos, she has a website that is set up to be a place to discuss Native American Indian issues -- www.nativeamericannetroots.net

So that's your judgment, that I hold some races in contempt? I doubt you believe that, and its simply an attempt to make an accusation, a maneuver which I do hold in contempt. If that's truly your opinion then you are wrong, so if your simply wanting to take shots and hope they hold WEIGHT with readers, don't bother, I DON'T CARE FOR YOUR PATHETIC GAMES Kay. Your approach is very typical of the European American perception of NDN Peoples, you come putting on a show of great concern hoping we Will buy it and make you an honorary NDN. Par for the course, then you act as though there is something you can do about it or that we need and want your Great White Assistance, as if you are an Elder your self, and we are helpless Children. Most NDN People stop falling for this bullshit masquerade along tome ago. So don'tput words in my mouth or pretend to read my thoughts and feelings as if you were are some kind of insightful judge over me, with the authority to claim the final word lady. And don't even dream that your acusations hold up to any truth or insight to my feelings about others at all, little miss Shaman pow wow. Being disgusted with one Persons head games does not mean I hate an entire race, Im either amazed as your lack of ability to read People, or offended at your game playing but which ever its is I believe it would be nice if you would grow up.

Tenlionz, I am not trying to put words in your mouth or read your thoughts/feelings.  I am reading your words.  I can’t read your mind, so your words are all I have to go on.

Your words seem to condemn people – and in this case, condemn me – because I’m white.

Your words seem to say that, because I am white, you can know that I had a contemptible reason for my original post on this thread.

Your words are all I have to go on.  Your words seem to say that, because I’m white, I couldn’t have started this thread simply because I cared about people who were suffering and who were asking for help.

Your words seem to say that, because I’m white, you can make all sorts of negative assumptions about my motives.

I am sorry if you believe all these things about me.

Do you truly believe that I want to be “an honorary NDN?”  If so, you are wrong.  I recognize some similarities between my own path and the traditions of many Indian Nations, but none of those traditions call to me the way the path of my Celtic ancestors calls me.  I have no desire to be an Indian.  But in the past I have had good relations with this community – not as “an honorary Indian” but as a respectful visitor.  Yona and Wohali were always welcoming to me, and Steve Greywolf became a good friend – I miss him still.

Do you think any of them would have tolerated it if I ever acted like the people of this community “…need and want your Great White Assistance, as if you are an Elder your self, and we are helpless Children.”?

I think you know that I don’t act that way.  If I have acted that way, show me where.

I cannot know for sure what was in your mind when you wrote your most recent post here; but it seems to me as though you became angry with me and wrote the cruelest, most insulting things that came into your mind, without stopping to think about whether they were true about me or not.  If I am wrong, then show me where I have earned such insults and contempt.

This was reported at www.indiancountrytoday.com and www.indianz.com as well.

Thank you, if anyone has read these articles they have done what they did. :)

I believe CNN highlighted that the Electric Companies were illegally shutting of the power to homes as well.

Anyway, take TenLionz hostility however you wish but this has been reported awhile ago.

this happens every year, they shut off the power every year. It is part of an agreement with the tribal leaders. Hopefully they will be able to get it resolved! Siyo to everyone I have not been here for a very long time, dont know if anyone remembers me.

Siyo back Sister, and Chukma. I believe the new counsel has made more progress in 6 months than most have made in 20 years. I was proud to watch my LT Governor address the President, and with out fear speak of the treaties left unfulfilled and ask for his renewed pledge to the NDN People to honor all treaties and make law that will bind them for the generations to come., they are still playing it on my tribe tv if anyone has missed it. The President has pledged seventy billion "off the top" for the 2010 budget, for BIA and Health care Programs/projects, and a 20 percent increse in anual bugetts.
