I really connect to the basic beliefs of Deism, one God-give him thanks instead of asking for things-rejection of the holy books and their propaganda...I feel the majority of all holy books are propaganda.
OK so I am going on my 3rd year in researching Deism-reading quotes from the founding fathers, going to Deist websites, what is taking me so long to fully agree with this concept is this website.... http://www.deism.com/ ...... I've read the articles and they are very hateful in nature and do not seem 'deist' to me and what I have come to understand about the Deist concept. This website clearly points fingers at one faith and not so much at others and that is where I am confused.
Wouldn't this article/listing of biblical verses go against everything a Deist would stand for?
Please explain or define this website for me because it is one of the first websites that pop up when you google Deism. Maybe I don't fully understand Deism? An explanation would be helpful because I really connect to this way of thought. I was raised Catholic and educated in Catholic schools and have become lost since I entered college when it comes to religion...and I went to a Catholic college in NYC! And when I heard about Deism in my senior year of college and its basic beliefs I felt like something regarding religion finally made sense to me.
If your reading this from NY or NYC: Are there any local meet ups for deists in NYC? I'd love to meet people and discuss Deism to help me better understand it.

Read the Wikipedia entry on Deism and bear in mind that Deism can be critical, and Deism can be constructive. Probably all of us start in Deism a little bit on the critical side, but I personally believe that, sooner or later, we must all decide what we are FOR, not just what we are against. I like my Deism on the positive and constructive side. The critical side can get boring (or worse). The Deist Alliance is a good choice. Of course I am prejudiced, because I manage two DA member sites (and am the new webmaster for the Deist Alliance home site), so that is not an objective recommendation. :)
If reason tells you that a website that calls itself Deist is wrong for you, then trust your reason. Find something else that makes more sense. THAT is Deism!
