I started my religious road as a child raised in a Protestant home... church, worship, singing, etc.  Then I got married and the abuse started and I felt that the Church and God had abandoned me to my fate.  So I slowly went from Christian to Mystic Christian to Wiccan.  I've been a Wiccan now for 20 years and I am feeling alone again.  I have been practicing solo for so long that I have lost my sense of community within the Faith and my clarity of purpose in religion in general.

I'm not sure just what I'm seeking... whether it be a solid community dynamic or just friends to talk about Wiccan and the Goddess, etc.  My friend Ami suggested here as a start and here I am.

Marakyn,

Ongoing participation here may offer you a sense of belonging within this online community. Certainly the more you participate, the quicker this may happen.

Your expectations of what the dynamics between Wiccans are meant to be or should be may also determine whether you think this is a functional Wiccan cyber-community or not. Please keep in mind that what this online community isn’t, is a real life and real time coven within any singular tradition.

Those here represent a broad spectrum of what, why and how the Religion of Wicca is and has been defined. Each member brings his or her unique life journey, background, experiences, training or lack of, beliefs and preferences here and these shape, impact and influence how they define and practice the Religion. Members as a result don’t and won’t always agree with each other about Wicca or what is Wiccan and why. It is important to remember that what another member posts is not binding on anyone else and that equally important, no one is obliged to recognise anyone else’s definition and/or claims as valid if it contradicts what they know or believe or have experienced. We are however obliged as members of Beliefnet to remain courteous to each other regardless.

I’m not sure how familiar you are with message board forums. Far more surf through here more than post. Some members are regular contributors, others drop by only once in a while. So you can post to another member and get a response in minutes or months or never. Some complain the Forum boards tend to be too quiet especially since migrating to the new format recently although the solution for this was, is and remains at the fingertips of each of us every day.

We do encourage the asking of questions, whether worn or shiny and new. This community also values fresh and different perspectives even when no one else agrees with them and ever with the hope that the contributor will not take such disagreement personally.

If you do ever want to have a serious discussion about a single topic, put SST at the start of the thread’s title. (Single and Serious Topic) That way the Hosts have a mandate to delete any posts that are off topic including attempts to derail or defuse the discussion with humour. Similarly OT indicates an off the topic of Wicca thread subject. We don't have that many old threads to bump up as yet on these newly formatted boards and the old boards are archived though reachable. You can always start a new topic thread if you don't see the subject or question anywhere.

Also, these old threads are often referenced in discussions on Wicca so here are the links if you are interested. Core Discussion and
Expansion on the Core

Your posting is five years old. How have you been? Have you found what you were seeking? There are abusers in Christianity but you will find that in all faiths. It is sad that the abusers get the attention. There is healing and recovery available. Keep seeking, you are not alone.

I've been good.  I started college about three years ago and am almost finished with my associates degree before moving to a four year university to gain my bachelor's degree.  My husband is a Lutheran and his church is very welcoming and understanding.  I am still seeking my way and trying to remember that Christians are human and sometimes don't follow what Jesus taught them to do.
