Let the beauty we love be what we do. . .
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study and begin working. Take down a musical instrument. Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If everybody tried to balance their life we would not be inclined to be on the defensive. . |

I don`t know that I have a favorite (in a sense it is all good), but I like how the masnavi opens:
"Now listen to this reed-flute's deep lament About the heartache being apart has meant: 'Since from the reed-bed they uprooted me My song's expressed each human's agony, A breast which separation's split in tow Is what I seek, to share this pain with you: When kept from their true origin, all yearn For union on the day they can return." That is Jawid Mojaddedi`s brilliant translation of which he has finished the first two books. The story of Moses and the shepard is good too, but probably too long to post here. |

Gold is the capital required for the market of this world; in the next world, the capital is love and two eyes wet with tears

This one always peaks my imagination and I love to visualize the happiness of the rose. It makes me happy too!
That which God said to the rose, and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty, He said to my heart, and made it a hundred times more beautiful. -Mathnawi [III, 4129] Too All: May the outcome of this Ramadan season bless your hearts with beauty. Spiritualhunter |
