Has anyone ever heard of the Plain Truth magazine? Is this a reputable group or something to be avoided?

Thanks

Hello An,

I looked them up on the net and read their statement of belief and it would appear that it is in keeping with the word.  That would, on the surface, make them safe to me, but the real truth would be discerned by listening to their teaching and what is in their print ministry.  If it agrees with the word, then it would be worth being involved in.

God bless.
In Christ, Ted.

The magazine was originally called Verdict. It was begun by an Australian who grew up an SDA. He was astounded once in reading Romans to discover the doctrine of Justification by faith and that the law particularly the keeping of the Sabbath was not the basis of salvation. He read widely,  particularly Martin Luther, and then ,I believe co-authored the book from Sabbath to Lord's Day. His name was Robert Brinsmeade. For years I was on his mailing list but have lost contact with him and so I do not know where he stands now.
On the other hand there is another magazine with a similar name which was put out by the World Wide Church of God which was a brainchild of  ? Armstrong. It is full of many errors and it's leadership has been discredited. I believe that the new leadership is much more aligned to historic Christianity, but again I have lost contact with them.

My bad. The Australian magazine was called Present Truth. I think the World Wide Church of God magazine should be read with caution.

Excellent advice, with any author, as even the most knowledgeable Christian is not 100% on target. I am reminded of Acts 17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

Thanks for the tip.
