I’ve been having a dumb conversation on the debate board with Keb. He is so paranoid about the Church and Fair he thinks we somehow have control over what goes into the Jewish Encyclopedia, that’s really strange.
Wise men still seek him.

Given that Keb seems to think that I'm female and is rather obsessed with my activities, I'd say that Keb has some issues. I've already asked Jen to deal with him once. |
The main thing is that each denomination has at least two sections of BNet where the members are supposed to be allowed to go without getting harassed by those opposed to their faith, this way the people can commune with each other without having to deal with hostile parties.
It's not that we're trying to exclude people; rather, it's that this is supposed to be a neutral zone.
Cool - thanks for the assist. This makes sense. That said, navigation is still sorta tricky - takes time! |

If I may get us back on track with regards to strange "misconceptions" about our faith that I have heard, I want to take a different twist and offer my own reasoning as to why many members are ill-advised about some things...specifically that we somehow perform our temple sealings in the buff.
Foremost, we must remember that ignorance breeds more ignorance. Because so many of the ordinances in the Temple are sacred, it goes without saying that there is going to be some conclusions drawn that are incorrect. For example: I think there may be some misunderstanding about Temple ordinances because of inappropriate discussions between members and non-members on the actual "ordinances" that take place and what they represent. Although the member may have all good intentions at heart, part of the reason we keep these ordinances private is they are sacred and those who are not "enlightened" to such an extent, will no doubt make assumptions that are incorrect or become ill-advised. You don't think the rumor that we performed the ceremony in the buff came about by accident do you? This rumor came about because members discussed their own endowments with others and others made some assumptions that are incorrect and then spread that idea around. I can understand how someone may come to some assumptions because of the fact that there are a few Temples where the sacred covenent is performed "live" and I believe this is why we keep such ordinances sacred. It is my own feeling that this is just one example where non-members may draw the wrong conclusion on some of our beliefs and ways. Me personally, the Temple is the last refuge here on earth where I know I can go to get away from the worldly sins and it therefore will always be the most sacred and beautiful place on earth we can retreat to!! Kindest Thoughts only, |

Let us not forget the Influance of the adversary in all things evil. He is literally the father of evil and the leader of ALL those who fight against Father, Jesus Christ and ALL things good and uplifting. In this day we see his Influance not necessarily just in the big lie but also in many of the simple and small things so that he can mislead the unwary even slightly, to start them in his direction. That is not to forget the people who just make up things to inflate their own knowledge, ego and Influance. The Internet is a great place for this. We all know someone who has to have the final say on any subject. Right or wrong they are the final authority on everything. * Mark Twain once said: “If you pick up a stray dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. That is the principal difference between dog and man.” * People have not really changed that much since Mark Twain’s day. Most good people tend to associate with other good people that do not fit the above example. Because of this we do sometimes forget that there really are bad people around us looking to get whatever advantage they can, whenever they can. The adversary is very alive and very active today trying to damage as many good people as possible, so just beware. Many would have us debate the gospel where they can claim anything they wish. We are counseled to “contend not but pursue a steady course.” Jesse F. (AKA the duty curmudgeon) * The bad scorn the good, and the crooked despise the straight. -Thoughts of chairman Mao |
It reminds me of the story (also told in England) about the poor convert who went to Utah and ended up a sex slave in the Salt Lake Temple. She finally escaped by climbing the tallest spire and jumping into the Great Salt Lake and swimming to safety. Quite a feat I must say - the Great Salt Lake is a good 10+ miles from the temple.
Yes I too heard the horns thing and that we have tails as well and the polygamy thing Personally that one is getting old. I had seen somewhere cant remember where but someone was asking how we baptized the dead. They thought that we held some sort of seans or exercism to call them up from the dead and baptize them and then send them back. Another one said that we had horns and tails and that we have powers to call out a spirit which is then baptized and we then hold an exercisium to get rid of it when we are done. |
