Apparently my prediction from my first posting (that I will only be able to offer up obvious information here) is already coming true.  Ah well, I'm mostly here to learn.  Yes, 'hu' the Danish equivilant of the Norwegian 'hug', ocationally those two languages are different.  Good concept, I'd like to find a text with a greater explaination of it though.  Anyone got any suggestions?

I am a Theodish Anglo-Saxon Heathen. I am Anglo-Saxon Heathen largely because my ancestry is mostly English and German (and the German is from Saxony), because I have always had an interest in English culture and history, and because I grew up in what is basically an English derived culture. I cannot say one of those things are more important than the others, as they all weigh in heavily in my choice of religions. I am Theodish basically because it demands more authenticity than I have found elsewhere. As to practice, I worship regularly with a group and hold symbel. I also do my own personal rites. What I do personally varies. Sometimes, I just pray, other times I gift the Gods. I also gift the land wights and the ancestors. I am a member of Englatheod, a national group dedicated to the Anglo-Saxon Gods as well as the local group here Crawanest Kindred. The Gods I am closest to are Woden and Frige, although I have worshiped most of the major Gods and Goddesses at one time or another. For me, Heathenry is a very personal experience, so much so I sometimes have problems relating to people that are not Heathen. Oh, I get along with them okay, but my closest friends are all Heathen.

hi, my name is trevor. i became interested in heathenry a couple of years ago. im probably more folkish than anything, but i appreciate theodish beliefs as well. i am primarily celtic/germanic, but i also have a little slavic (ukranian) and cherokee. im always interested in learning more about my faith, and its nice to know places like this exist.

as for practicing, i dont do much. i like to keep the holidays in mind, but celebrating is difficult alone. i would also like to learn how to worship on a daily level. the majority of my devotion is through heathen themed music (listening or writting my own stuff).

Hello.

I am new to Asatru and heathenry in general.  I hope I have reached a place to learn what I need to do to begin practicing in solitary without fear of, shall I say, biased minds.  I do not know if this is the correct path for me.  What I do know is that my path is poly-theistic and kind to the environment.

I hope to be the sponge to your water of knowledge.

Thank you.

Hi Airthmann and Welcome to the board.

I don't know what you mean by biased minds?

The majority of people here base their beliefs off of scholarship. It's hard to be biased when your basing your views on that, atleast I'd think it would be.

Another thing to remember is that we generally get along. Every now and then members butt heads with each other. Sometime it happens more often but we do get along pretty well.

If you want more information about heathenry. Take a look in our "Book/Info Hoard Thread" also there are many places on the web.

Take Care. :)
