Considering that the Hebrews and Christians claim to have had direct contact with the one and only god, why is it that other contemporary cultures were so intellectually advanced in comparison? We are more influenced by the ideas of the Greeks than we are by the ideas of most other cultures, especially Judaism and Christianity.

The Greeks made gigantic leaps in the fields of math science, and medicine, some of their ideas still hold true today.

Euclid, Hippocrates, Archimedes, Democritus, Herodotus, Ptolemy, Pythagoras, full list here.

Then there is philosopy, and literature.

And those are just the Greeks!

Shouldn't people with access to the one and only 'true god' also offer the most to human civilization by virture of their privileged access and place?

Let's face it, Christianity would not, could not, be what it is today without Greek philosophy.

So why is a 'true religion' so intellectually deficient that it must steal ideas from godless pagans in order to make it's ideas work?

I've been thinking civilization is a giant dystopia lately. Greco Roman civilization was a brutal conquering form of civilization. Prehaps Greco Roman intellectualism needs to be tempered in the Godism of Judeo Christianity. Where myth and metaphor contribute the softening virtues of compassion, peace of mind and purity of heart.

Religion without science is blind and science without religion is crippled

Isn't that what the Holy Roman Empire was?  How did that turn out?

You mean neither Holy, Roman or an Empire?

The HRE was a loose amalgam of princes who voted for successors to the throne in Vienna.

In choosing a successor to the throne, probably more money changed hands in bribes than the anonymous millions Mitt Romney is being bought with.
