We were given just ONE command...and even with just ONE command we could not get it right...and, there was only two people at the time...Adam and Eve.
If you are going to read Genesis literally you are going to have a hard time making any sort of valid argument. We ask why your god didn't make A&E more obedient, and instead created weak and easily duped beings?
Also worth pointing out that since the god of that story had made flawed beings on purpose in order to keep them ignorant they had no capacity to know that disobedience was morally wrong.
Since they could hold no moral responsibilty they could not be held morally accountable.

“Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions…for safety on the streets…for child care, for social welfare…for rape crisis centers, women’s refuges, reforms in the law.
If someone says, “Oh, I’m not a feminist,” I ask, “Why, what’s your problem?”

Are you stronger and more nobler than Adam and Eve who enjoyed the glory of HIS PRESENCE in an environment which had not been influenced with interference from other things which compete for our attention?
I told you, GOD can look into one day, one thousand years...HE knows the victory...and HE is waiting until the numbers in CHRIST are complete, than will the end come...but not one moment before all that is HIS is gathered into ONE...body...even CHRIST.
Now, I am going to ask you one thing to do, if you would...and of course, you do not have to do it...I have nothing on you...I can't make you do this or that...but if you would JUST READ 2THESSELONIANS 2 and think about who it is that "holds all things back"...
And if HE who holds all things back is taken out of the way...what do you expect this world to look like in the last days?
I won't be around for the rrest of the day...and yes, I take HIS WORD literally....if we had taken HIS WORD literally from the beginning, CHRIST would not have had to come...
There is always those among us who still say...did GOD really say?

HE did...and I will listen to HIM first.
Yes, what did he tell you?
please let us know.
Watching Foxnews makes you dumb and dumber than your friends who watch NO News. It is on the survey! It is time for Republican leaders to wake up and smell the coffee, President Obama had won second term. It is the time put the American people first before politics.

I try to find rational content in your posts and I am always disappointed.
So I am just going to move along from this tangent to nowhere and return to the points raised in the OP.
Where are the significant intellectual achievements to their contemporaries (Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and others) found in the Jewish and Christian communities while the Bible texts were being written (till circa 2 CE)?

And you are asssuming the Greeks did their thing independent of all other peoples ideas and there were no civilizations prior to the Greeks. I don't think so.
Name one ancient civilization which may have influenced Greek thought, philosophy, and science.

Moses, Solomon and the Israelite nation. Egypt would be another. Persha. Babylon. Syria. Troy and the Trojans.

I think you're waaaay off base here. Classical Greece (600-200 BC) had no verifiable contact with Moses or Solomon, that I'm aware of; Egypt had some influence in Mycaenae, but Mycaenae was a dead end city state largely gone by the time of Athens' flowering; Persia was a sworn enemy and considered "barbarian"; Babylon was a has-been part of the Persian Empire as was Syria.
Christianity didn't even exist in 2 CE so I'm not sure how Christians could have impacted anything in the time frames you give. Israel is sometimes credited with having a strong ethical basis by Classical authors. But don't you see how tiny Israel would never be able to have the impact and influence that Greek Culture whether independent City States or unified in Hellenistic Empires could have. And don't forget how highly organized Rome was even in Republican days but certainly during the Empire. And once again Christianity is a Hellenistic phenomenon so I don't really see how it couldn't be seen as so.
and so you pick and choose from GOD'S WORD what you will pick and choose from GOD'S WORD?
Then what does it become? GOD'S WORD, or a watered down version to please selective, subjective ears?
Your interpretation is subjective, as is anyone who reads the Bible and says it has some meaning. Do be aware that you are also calling it "god's word" along with some other human beings, and there is no way to really establish that as true in reality. So why shouldn't lope have his way of interpreting the Bible, and you have yours?
Either you believe ALL OF HIS WORD...or, only a portion...
I choose to believe HIS WORD FULLY AND COMPLETELY and to accept it as it has been given.
Then you will have to defend why you interpret the text that way. You can't just decide it is god's word, and then interpret it the way you think it means and not be accountable for it. I hope you realize this.
What did GOD mean when HE said...those destined for the sword will be destined for the sword?
Honestly, we don't if a god exists, and if one does, that it's Yahweh. And then that Yahweh said this to the human who wrote it down, and then it was translated properly, and then interpreted correctly. Unless you have an actual god telling you things any communication is prone to reader error.
