a human by definition is not omni...

So you don't go with the committee idea.  That would suggest you think Yahweh is the omnipotent one.

lets presume for a minute that Jesus was Omni-he lost that when he submitted His rank to the Father

In the bible he's always in submission to Yahweh.  "I came not of my own accord, but he sent me" and "I can do nothing on my own authority" and "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone" and "My Father [...] is greater than all" and "they know thee the only true God" and so on.

Omnipotence and the Trinity - their relationship is the topic of this thread

So your comment is rather a conversation-stopper.

not really, Jesus was a human vessel the finite can not completely contain the infinite

So god is not omnipotent because he could not make physical reality such that a human could contain the infinite?  God is constrained by spiritual physics?

Jesus had two dads, and he turned out alright.~ Andy Gussert

“Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions…for safety on the streets…for child care, for social welfare…for rape crisis centers, women’s refuges, reforms in the law.

If someone says, “Oh, I’m not a feminist,” I ask, “Why, what’s your problem?”

You are right Kwinters, god is not omnipotent; God is.

God is Order and there are things God can not do as it would be breaking his own laws. Jesus often said, that the Law may be fulfilled. Laws of existence are more than 10Comm.

Physical reality is what it is. If it is made into something else then it is something else untill then it remains as is.

I have to disagree with previous poster. Jesus did contain the Infinite. His soul was the divine of the Father. His body  with human tendencies he inherited through Mary.

He spoke as a man, he cried with compassion, he was temptesd as a man, but His face also  shone like the sun at transfiguration.  He said I and my Father are one.

I recognize you're not necessarily creedal but Chalcedon addresses the subsequent questions following your post and now you're stuck with them.

The way I see it, the eternal is not contained by humanity, but touches and is touched by the stuff of eternity in humannity. I think that's what in the likeness of God means. God is and we is for a time, what we share is this isness.

So do you think Yahweh's the omnipotent one?

because He is on Earth as  Jesus

And before that as well - "I came not of my own accord, but he sent me".

And after that as well - when he gets back to heaven, his place is described relative to Yahweh's, not vice versa - namely, being on Yahweh's right.  We NEVER hear Yahweh's position described as being on Jesus' left.

You hear of them sitting on each other in Revelation, though.  Laughing

  1. Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

  2. Revelation 22:1
[ The River of Life ] Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb

  3. Revelation 22:3
No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
