Most of my books are in modern English ( I have one in Middle English) and the rest are in German with the exception of a Spanish text book. If it weren't for my German ancestory I would avoid languages with guttural sounds like German and French. I find guttural sounds to be offensive to the ear. That's probably why I like Mandarin Chinese so much. Its so smooth.

French is "guttural," Monsieur?  I fart in your general direction.

I knew you'd like my comment.

The gutteral R is also known as the French R. Linguistics is one of my hobbies. I'll be graduating from  culinary school in about a month and I'm thinking enrolling at the U of U to study language. My sensei is working on his doctorate in Japanese right now, and based upon the conversations we have he thinks I ought to consider graduate school. I've always wanted to be able to make people call me doctor.

I prefer to be called "Monsieur."  "Herr Doktor," you and your Teutonic entourage can be seated in notre restaurant, just as soon as you check your hammers, animal skins, and breastplates at the door.

Now, now monsieur. Despite the peridoc warmongering of my ancestors I can assure you that you will find that we Krauts can be quite refined as well. My favorite chef is one Alain Passard of L'Arpège. Any man that can retain a three Michelin star rating after dropping meat from the menu has my respect.

The boche are "fine cooks"?  Very much as the Prussian General Staff were known for petting kittens and growing marigolds, Monsieur.

Iron suggests no one here has the courage to read the book he's been citing. That's rich. He couldn't even be bothered to read the Nauvoo Expositor. I've got a reading list about a mile long, (I'm reading James Joyce right now) but I'll see if my local library has a copy.

Correction.

I got about halfway through before I got busy again,* and I haven't been able to find the link since.

And my list? I've got an entire moving box full of books I still need to get through... as soon as I get through all the trade publications I've been wading through.

*Right now, for example, the other students in my group were a week and a half late with their portion of a group project but are trying to blame me for us being past due. I spent most of the past week trying to get us all caught back up.

Its a short read.

I work full time, go to school full time and have a wife and two children that demand my attention. Last month alone I finished Asimov's Robot Trilogy, one of RA Salvatorie's trilogies concerning Drizzt Do'Urden and I'm nearly done with Aeschylus' famous trilogy.

A moving box full? I have at least that many on my shelves that I have not yet read and that doesn't even come close to putting a dent into my reading list.

I have a good 20 - 25 moving boxes full AND a Kindle with a constantly growing list of books (~650 right now, and I'm addicted to all those sites that offer free Kindle books).  I've recently downloaded a master's thesis about Paul's claim to the priesthood.  That should be fun!
