Very true.  By definition it's...bliss.

Even the blissiest bliss will feel very very very boring after a few thousand years.

Let alone a few quadrillion years.

You'll just have to keep increasing the dose until you lose awareness.

LOL!

Anyway, "eternity" is timeless--i.e., no "a few thousand years" or "a few quadrillion years."

It just...is.

Kind of like "I AM."

Let's do some what ifing. There are about 100,000 galaxies with about 100,000 stars in each galaxy. That makes 10 billion stars (I think, my calculator doesn't go that high). Say only 10% have inhabitable planets (now), with humanoid life. So, God needs a billion.........

Say you get to heaven and God says, I have this little chore I want you to do. I'm asking for a volunteer. I need somebody to go to galaxy Delta, EEE, 4317, to solar system Zulu-7359-BHQ, planet number 3. They've been looking for a Savior, the time is right. Who's up for the job?

You're off by 6 levels of 10 WITH MULTIPLES, which is quite a bit:  It's actually "100's of billions" in each case.  That means, 100,000,000,000's galaxies, each with 100,000,000,000's stars.

Actually, eternity can't have a beginning either.

You either have a beginning AND an end, or you have neither, period.  You can't have both.

And even in some dreamworld, the concept of "eternity", makes no sense with no limit on one end, yet a limit on the other.  At least try to be consistent! :)

Right behind you, Ebe (but for the cats :P.)  In fact I believe I posted something like that once here re heaven to me including tons of books.  Let's add a leather chair, btw, really high ceilings, a fireplace, tall windows, and velvet drapes.  And oriental carpets.)

I can picture it now. Logs crackling quietly on the fire, gentle smell of coffee drifting through the air, maybe a nice red wine... I'll keep the kitties off you :)

You had to add the red wine...

I'm off in the clouds somewhere...

(And the kitties, lol, no offense--allergic.  Had a beautiful one myself once--so SWEET!  My boyfriend had gotten her for me as a surprise.  And when I walked in the room (she was a kitten), she was almost perfectly ROUND with her little paws tucked under her little fluffy body sitting like a little princess on a pillow watching him read.  And a perfectly ROUND little fuzz ball--grey and white calico with pretty blue eyes.  She was PICTURE perfect.  And a little brat, too, lol.  She liked my speakers and thought they were good scratching posts.  And liked climbing bookcases and then jumping from there to the plants by the window and DIGGING in them.  Fuzzy speakers and dirt everywhere, every day.  Then one time, I was laying on the floor watching TV at night and I think she was sitting behind my head.  She must have seen my eyes glittering reflecting the TV in the dark so thought she'd snatch one--stuck her (curved) claw right into my eyeball.  BRAT.  I named her "Claire."  Have no idea why.  She was just a...Claire.  But she was the reason I developed cat allergies, I guess.  Didn't have them before and started getting them severely after a couple of years.)

Long, irrelevant story, huh?

Too much...coffee.

Wink

Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason, my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not retract anything, for to go against conscience would be neither right nor safe.  Here I stand.  I can do no other.  God help me.  Amen.

Well if you want to get...technical, btl, it is "eternal life" we're talking about here.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.  He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.  (John 5)

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. (John 6)

iow, you're not even alive unless you believe.

You can always ask to come back to earth and join a strip club or live under a bridge in bellow zero.. enough to make you feel 'alive';)

Let's just say we have not experienced pure states of consciousness.

Dostojevski

Let's just say we have not experienced pure states of consciousness.

Let's just say we have no reason to think there's any such thing.

And let's agree that consciousness is a state that's derived from a working brain, so that after death no consciousness is possible.

You don't know that to be true.  You assume things based on this physical existence.  It is possible this physical existence is not like the spiritual reality at all.

It's possible too that pigs have wings but we've never noticed.  It just isn't very likely.

No it is not possible that pigs have wings because we have seen pigs and they don't.  We have not seen heaven, so the analogy fails completely.
