Steven, there are plenty of legit reasons why folks may not want to visit the USA, but lack of available health care shouldn't be one of them.
Unless you wind-up in the hinterlands somewhere.
This is true. You might end up with a big medical bill, but you would not be denied care. Medical people do want to help.
A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle Never discourage anyone...who continually makes progress, no matter how slow. Plato.. Actually, I hunt deer and elk to fill my family freezer with lots of yummy stuff, and own several firearms. I also strongly support the Second Amendment, although the strident tone of NRA rhetoric sometimes turns me off.
Loonies with firearms is one thing. But, then again, severe mental illness disqualifies one from firearms ownership.
You have a strange perception of the states. Apparently, you think all we do is scream about Jesus and shoot guns.
Come visit sometime. It's not all that bad.
Unfortunately, I doubt I will ever set foot in the USA - there are many places I'd like to visit, but the USA isn't one of them. To be honest, the place frightens me. I'd like to see Cape Canaveral, but I'm more likely to see Baikonur first.
I am more interested in visiting China, Vietnam, Mongolia and Japan. I'll probably end up teaching English in Japan - I have a friend there who is urging me to come to Kyoto to help her teach in her school. The Japanese have banned guns too and they do make some nice beers. You can buy booze in Mcdonalds and KCF in Japan. Now that's what I called civilised.
I think I want to spend the rest of my life not speaking English or using it as little as possible.
Elk meat is pretty gross, not yummy. You may as well eat Moose.

Steven, just wait about 3 decades, them come. By then, we'll all be speaking Spanish, except for the big mouth, elk eating, theists that are screaming about Jesus. But by then, they'll be a minority :)

...I don't go around trying to change other peoples beliefs and would like the same respect. There is nothing even mildly pleasant about have street preachers and proselytisers preaching at you, or follow you....
Last Sunday some JWs made the mistake of coming to my place. Before they said a word I said; "If you are selling religion, I'm not interested." They made another mistake by trying to continue. I got bored right away and looked at the younger woman and her little boy and said; "Remember this place. Keep it on your mind. If you ever want to leave that cult you are in you will be safe here. You can come anytime of day or night. And, no, I will not try to convert you to Atheism, but help you escape a cult that is controlling your every though."
She had a blank look on her face and the elder woman, her controller, just said; "We'll be leaving now."

I am a Humanist. I believe in a rational philosophy of life, informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by a desire to do good for its own sake and not by an expectation of a reward or fear of punishment in an afterlife.
