I'm not hostile toward those who try to evangalize me. I usually politely dismiss them.
No one is being hostile, but it is insulting and annoying when people are trying to force you into believing in their brand of religion , and trying to get you (generic) to walk away from your (generic) own. It is disrespectful. And proselytisers never know when to stop.
Evangelising is just a nasty thing to do.
Again --- I have to ask. Why/how are you letting other peoples' points of view hold such sway and power over you?
I've never found evangalists partiularly difficult to dismiss.
But no one else's opinions hold sway over my views. But as has been stated evangelist force their views into law. Or they go around to your house early in the morning trying to push their religion. When people say things like you did it makes me wonder what planet you live on, that you seem so unaware of what is actually going on in the world
A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle Never discourage anyone...who continually makes progress, no matter how slow. Plato.. You shouldn't. It is exceedingly rude to approach a stranger and attempt to meddle in his or her religion. Anyone who does that should be treated in a punitive manner.

It is none of your business.

I never said it was my "business" I was merely asking a question. I am truley baffled that something like evangalism would get one's goat. Having somebody show up at my house early in the morning is annoying, hardly a personal affont. And as I said, I hear just as many "Chicken Little" scenerios about atheism or "secular humanism" being forced into law. If those dreaded Jay-sus people were half as powerful as they are made out to be sometimes, I think they would have taken over by now. It's doubtful. Americans like partying and getting laid too much.

I agree it's rude. My own Grandmother (herself a devout Lutheran) said, "There are three things other people really don't want to hear about. Your religion, your politics, and your health issues." No truer words, to be sure. But, that said, I'm not really a "tit for tat" sort of person. I'm very easygoing and forgiving.

" I'm very easygoing and forgiving" And you will forgive the YEC science teachers for teaching creationism in the biology class at the public high school. It doesn't bother you.

That sounds a mite paranoid to me. Sort of like evangelicals talking about "secular humanists" taking over.
Methinks both sides are squaking a bit too much.
Then you have your head in the sand. Opposition to gay marriage, stem cell research, teaching of evolution, etc. are all religiously motivated and has already crept into public policy.

If people don't speak up, the "Jay-sus people" WILL get in power. In that case, you'll be screwed as they care as much for Baha'i's as they do for atheists.

I'm not the one who brought it up. I'm merely curious, why some think being evangalized is such a big deal. I've simply just said, "no thank you." Or, worst case scenerio, mabye rattle off something like, "Well, the Trinity is primarily a Nicean doctrine anyway, so I never put much stock in it," and then walking away. Again --- I have to ask. Why/how are you letting other peoples' points of view hold such sway and power over you? I've never found evangalists partiularly difficult to dismiss.
Why is it any of your business?
Sorry, was that supposed to be a response?

Don't forget the sudden war on birth control, and women's health care, all in the name of Christianity

How common is that?
