DIO:

"Try these thisgs for yourself, like Buddha said, if you find it true practice if not let it go."

It is quotes like this that get you in trouble. This isn't a quote. It is a mis-paraphrase of Buddha. Most probably you are thinking of the often misquoted Kalama Sutta.

At this moment, I would say the true self is one with every sentient being and all things. As for truth; truth resonates with what you know, harmony is true. Truth leads to joy. Some things I believe are true; everybody without exception wants to be happy, treat others as you whish to be treated, everything in moderation. Try these thisgs for yourself, like Buddha said, if you find it true practice if not let it go.

Anger- let it go, fear- let it go, craving- let it go clearly the false mind will lead to un fulfilment unhappiness suffering.

So when we prove to ourself what is true we can't be decieved we simply don't go the way of the false mind.

Dio,

Thank you for your response.

I just read the Kalama sutta.  Of course my post is a paraphrase, shouldn't put it in quoats. But this is what I understand Buddha to have taught here. If my understanding is mistaken please what is your understanding.

Dio my friend:

If you read the Kalama Sutta then you know your post was both incorrect and implys something that wasn't said. Since you read the Sutta why don't you correct your post?

'cause that's what I draw from it.

wrong thinking is cause of suffering, you don't have to be stuck in your suffering. try not reacting to your suffering, rather respond to your suffering mindfully. You will see your suffering deminish immediately, try see if it works for you. Take Buddha's advice,  If it doesn't work  it's not true forget about.  But of course Buddha knew his advice was true.

What do you get that is different from the sutta?

Your opinion and the teaching of the Sutta differ greatly. The Sutta is Buddhism. Your statemmmment is DIOism.

The translator's note found here explains the Kalama Sutta more accurately.  It is easy to confuse the wording at some points in the sutta for your interpretation.
