No such thing. "We" isn't the third person. It's the first person plural. Perhaps you're referring to the pluralis maiestatis.

Yes, certain scholars such as ecocritics and ecofeminists are beginning to write their papers in the first-person singular, but writing in the first-person plural is still the accepted way of referring to oneself in academic discourse. (One should refer to oneself in either the first-person singular or the first-person plural in order to ensure that one writes in the active voice.)

The silliest part of it is that I was not referring to myself but the whole forum.
