If God, the prophets, or Jesus never told anyone , salvation accomplished only through the blood of god, his son, or anyone else.

Where this idea came from to Paul's head?

It has to do with (in part, but not wholly) Moses and the blood of the covenant.

Moses sprinkled the blood from sacrificed animals on the Hebrews saying, "Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you concerning all these words" (Ex. 24:5-8).  Going from this scene to Golgotha equires a great jump in one's imagination.

I am off to lunch, but I trust you can use google. It is in Exodus.

If you find something, and I trust that you will, I would like to tell you ahead of time that I am not willing to respond to something along the lines of 'Oh!, well that's not what Paul is saying!'

I will leave that to any christians that would like to do so. Moreover, I would guess that people that are of the mind to do so could possibly know more off the top of their head than I do.

Take care,

TFV

JimRigas,

Thanks, yes, that's the passage.

As for changes in religion over time, it take a lot of something to go from 1st Temple to 2nd Temple to Rabbinic, to... at least in my opinion it does as religion is dynamic.

Blood never was the way to forgive sins.

If it's as you think, then please show me what kind of animal they need for (the crime of killing) for example?

It would appear that that is the case, but I guess it is also questioning the exact nature of atonement practices via a selective, ahistorical, and tendentious reading of scipture.

So, jlb, you got that AND Paul going. Have at it.
