Miguel de Servet is on a long leave from these forums. His (more or less definitive) thoughts can be found at MdS' Journal.

Thanks, everybody.

See you again, sometime ...

Revelation can be above, never against Reason

“The everlasting God is a refuge, and underneath you are his eternal arms ...” (Deut 33:27)
“Do you have an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?” (Job 40:9)
“By the Lord’s word [dabar] the heavens were made; and by the breath [ruwach] of his mouth all their host.” (Psalm 33:6)
“Who would have believed what we just heard? When was the arm of the Lord revealed through him?” (Isaiah 53:1)
“Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” (John 12:38)
“For not the hearers of the law are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be declared righteous.” (Romans 2:13)

“Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”(Romans 13:8)

Enjoy your time away, MdS!

I feel as if I have personally learned and benefitted from reading your postings. So if you see fit to return at some later time (and if I am here at that time), I'll look forward to seeing additional commentaries and perhaps some new perspectives from you. In the meantime, thank you for the views you have offered to this point.

Peace.

I prayed for deliverance from the hard world of facts and logic to the happy land where fantasies and prejudices reign. But God spake unto me, saying, "No, keep telling the truth," and to that end afflicted me with severe Trenchant Mouth. So I'm sorry for making cutting remarks, but it's the will of God.

MdS,
I recently returned after a long hiatus from beliefnet and can say it was good to get away. B'net can become an obsession.

Hope your break is good.

Jesus had two dads, and he turned out alright.~ Andy Gussert

“Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions…for safety on the streets…for child care, for social welfare…for rape crisis centers, women’s refuges, reforms in the law.

If someone says, “Oh, I’m not a feminist,” I ask, “Why, what’s your problem?”

Just when I celebrate the conclusion of a 6-month work assignment with double time having near killed me and get ready to address my backlog setting all your wicked heresies straight.

This is one of three things:

1.  Yet another of your hedonistic, interminable vacations and an especially lengthy self-indulgent debauchery this time--in which case I say to you,

"Why is it, when I am in Rome,
I'd give an eye to be at home,
But when on native earth I be,
My soul is sick for Italy?

And why with you, my love, my lord,
Am I spectacularly bored,
Yet do you up and leave me- then
I scream to have you back again?"

Wink

or

2. It's rather more extended for some reason, in which case My_dear_er, grouchy, Proud, P(h)er(i)sian Warlord, I say to you, "Tamerlane"...

or

3.  It's surgery and/or you're sick (I mean besides the kind we already know and I quite liberally point out.)  In which case I say to you, my prayers are with you, Godspeed, and "Get Well Soon."

Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason, my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not retract anything, for to go against conscience would be neither right nor safe.  Here I stand.  I can do no other.  God help me.  Amen.

HfC, BB, Ed, Kw,

thank you all for your kind posts.

Keep the B'net boat going.

I'll be thinking of you,

1. No, it is not my "self-indulgent debauchery this time", although, actually, I am going to England for a couple of weeks tomorrow, including Blackwell's and the Ashmolean at Oxford, theatre at Stratford and even a Golden Wedding Anniversary in Derbyshire ...

2. The Warlord, as you should know, is never at rest, Ada ...

3. I'm fine, thank you, I just need a long break from B'net and I'm rather busy with other plans, at the moment and presumably for some time.

All the best,

Mario

Oh, what a thrill--I just die of envy!

And see if you can pick up a copy of this...

;-)

and the Ashmolean at Oxford, theatre at Stratford and even a Golden Wedding Anniversary in Derbyshire ...

!

Why, you always said I was a prophetess!  Enjoy the exhibit of your descendants, My_dear_Timur...

:P

2. The Warlord, as you should know, is never at rest, Ada ...

"She did not ask the reason why", for she knows...

"I see with eye serene

The very pulse of the machine"

Just stay away from the brink, my Alexis..., for it is not He but the Counterfeit who whispers gratification in the plunge...

I am very relieved to hear it.

And enjoy your vacation.

I expect I will see His Most Asiatic Despotes on the steppe again soon, for it is certain an unworthy and fool Tyrant who leaves his empire unprotected...

All the best,

Mario
