Does the Bible teach that one can get anything via prayer or can one only get very limited things of a psycho/spiritual variety (spiritual peace, consolation, psychological strength etc.)?How about interventions like victory in war, saving a life, getting a job or passing a test?Is there Biblical clarity on exactly what prayer can and can't provide?I'm assuming the person praying has sufficient faith in all these cases.Or is perhaps prayer only a way of changing adjusting ones mind to accept whatever God chooses to do?
I have heard people say over the years that prayer can achieve anything and seen many times where it hasn't. For me I like best the prayer "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference". That answers for me what prayer can and can't achieve.

Have you noted the NT passages that encourage people to believe that prayer can achieve anything? There are certainly passages which seem to give that message.
By prayer I assume you mean intercede org prayer. Of course there are other kinds but I will address what I think you mean. Such prayer allows us to express our needs, wants and hopes and this leads to us organizing our minds around such goals. Often they come to fruition. When Jesus or others talk about prayer moving mountains they are using hyperbole. However, if you have no faith that what you do will be successful then you will never do anything. Pessimism breeds inaction. You need to see good things coming and then you'll organize around this and it has a strong probability of playing out that way. Prayer also gives us courage and fortitude in the face of adversity.

Here is the biggest disappointment of all of the claims attributed to Jesus (which, in my view Jesus never said, John just made this sh*t up):
'I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.'

“Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions…for safety on the streets…for child care, for social welfare…for rape crisis centers, women’s refuges, reforms in the law.
If someone says, “Oh, I’m not a feminist,” I ask, “Why, what’s your problem?”

Is that really radically different from:
Mr 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Haven't tried moving the mountain (can't really see a need for it, personally), but I've learned to time my prayers so that the light will turn green. :)

A. What is it? ...A personal and spiritual outpouring of a Christ-follwer to a perfectly merciful and just TRI-UNE GOD. The Bible contains many explanations, models, and examples...see a few of my favorites below.
B.What can it do? On all levels of BODY + SOUL + SPIRIT, the all knowing and all powerful TRI-UNE GOD can respond to prayer and accomplish ANYTHING that is within His GENERAL and SPECIFIC WILL !
Mark 11......Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King....BELIEVE in the POWER of PRAYER...see also: Matthew 21 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.
Luke 11: 1-11...Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer...after the MODEL prayer:
Matthew 26: 41;38 (NASB)...Jesus: in The Garden of Gethsemane to Peter (and followers?)
Romans 8: 26-27 (NASB)...Paul: Pray in the SPIRIT and SOUL (mind)
Ephesians 6:18 (NASB)...Paul: pray for all the saints (believers)
2 Chronicles 7: 14 ...The "Reagan Prayer for The Nation"....The LORD Appears to Solomon

Could you clarify what exactly is within God's will?Is it what God is neither for nor against?
