That is not surprising...that the Catholic Church would attempt to discredit the authenticity and accuracy of the Book of Revelation since it exposes them as the beast of Revelation, pointing out their indiscretions and sins.
Ben: The Catholic Church is but one of the churches of the beast of Revelation, which is the whole of Christianity, which has persecuted the children of the most Hight through pogroms, blood libels, Crusades, Inquisition, and the Holocaust.
"Apocalypse of John." Later, medieval manuscripts elaborated the title to "Apocalypse of John the Theologian and Evangelist" and "Apocalypse of St. John the Theologian."
Ben: Apocalypse of John the Theologian!!! How could an illiterate person be a Theologian? Read Acts 4:13. Luke reports about John as an unlearned and ignorant man. Illiterate people do not write books.
The Greek form of this name, Ioannes (see Luke 1:13), represents the common Hebrew name Yochanan, "Johanan," which appears numerous times in the later books of the OT, the Apocrypha, and Josephus. This identifies the author as a Jew.
Ben: Not even a single Jew took part in the writings of the NT. Jews would not vandalize Judaism with Greek Mythology.
Also, it appears that the practice of pseudonymity did not flourish when the exercise of the gift of prophecy was vigorous. If you would like a more detailed biographic explanation as to the identity and veracity of John as the author of Revelation, it can be furnished.
Ben: If the practice of pseudonymity was not used in the first century the Hellenists who wrote the NT would not have attributed their writings to the apostles of Jesus.
Your premise is based on the sinful traits and characteristics of man, but though Christ was born into this sinful world for a different reason than the desires and sinful lusts that humans possess, He did not sin, and that means in both thoughts and actions.
Ben: To get married is not a sin. The opposite is true, that to remain single is a transgression of the commandment to grow and multiply, given by God Himself in Genesis 1:28. If Jesus came to fulfill all of God's Law down to the least of the commandments, according to Matthew 5:17-19, and failed to obey the very first of the commandments, he committed a sin, and instead of being the savior, he became in need of a savior himself.
So marriage was not an issue with him, but rather His only reason for being here on earth was being the final sacrifice for the remission of the sins of mankind, past, present and future.
Ben: Jesus was a learned Jew who knew that, according to Jeremiah 31:30, every one of us is supposed to die for his or her own iniquity. Therefore, he could not be the sacrifice for any one's sins. He was crucified on political charges, for being proclaimed to be the king of the Jews in a Roman province. So much so that the charge was written on that plaque and nailed on the top of his cross.
His association with His disciples was to prepare them for the continuation of His ministry, and it continues today. Christ always exhibited love, mercy, tenderness and care of people He came into contact with, and the Bible, in Greek, describes that as 'agape love'...a love that humans cannot fathom or understand.
Ben: Jesus broke the Golden Rule several times whenever he name-called the Pharisees with being hypocrites and race of vipers, and whipped the money changers from the front of the Temple, while causing them financial damages. Is that what you call tender love and care for people? To be charismatic and divine as you believe he was, he could have removed them from there with a glance of his eyes, whithout having hurt them.
I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, both the OT and the NT, and anything that contradicts the Bible is apostate in nature and the work of 'the evil one' to denigrate the Word of God, and in doing so, create confusion and doubt in God's word.
Ben: If anything that contradicts the Bible is apostate in nature, the NT is apostate in nature. It contradicts the Tanach and itself more than several times.
And your blindness as to truth has clouded your logic and thinking.
Ben: Do you even know what the Truth is? Let me help you. Jesus himself said that the Truth is the Word of God, according to John 17:17, which was given to Israel only and to no other people on earth, according to Psalm 147:19,20. Now, you know what is the Truth, and whom to find it with.
