Aka_me

what qualifies a being as small g god?

It's like the difference between religion and superstition.

Religion is what YOU do.  Superstition is what THEY do.

YOU have a big-G God.  THEY have a small-g god.

there is a concept of Creator, God with a big G, incorporeal.

and then there are superman and green lantern figurines.

what exactly qualifies a being as a small g god?

other than perhaps existing merely as a marble statue?

Your god is no more worthy of a big "G" then any  other god. You god is a middle eastern tribal god. Nothing more.  Not more important, not a creator of the universe more  then any other creator god, and there are many creator gods.

You god is a small "g" just as all others. The word "god" is not a name.

And other gods are not less real gods, just because you don't like the idea.

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side. Aristotle

Of course you need to attack me personally, find something wrong with me, but the fact is and shall remain that you are not disagreeing with me but with science. Attacking me instead of providing proof to back up your absurd claims is very revealing; you have nothing but beliefs.

Science is good for some things, not for others; that's all I'm saying.  Now let's see you come to the middle.  You can't.

Last night on TV I heard on a four-person news panel, the denying that there is a god.  The conversation went something like this for little over a minute.  "Do you think there is a god?  I don't.  How many people in the United States still think there is a god?  None of my friends think there is.  Religion is definitely failing.  What proof is there that there is a god?" Etc etc etc.

But then 1 out of the 4 said, "I'm not going against God on national TV."  (They have to have at least one person condoning there is a god to play it safe.)  Honestly, I don't know how that got through.  It was amazing!!!! yeah !!!!

One of the sad parts about that, is the need to pretend you believe in a god to play it safe. I am not going to follow a god I am afraid of.

I don't know why Aka_me wants to discuss theology here.

I find it baffling as well.
