karbie,

A viable variation, indeed.

Democrats think the glass is half full.
Republicans think the glass is theirs.
Libertarians want to break the glass, because they think a conspiracy created it.

I think Clinton's success post-adultery proves your statement isn't true.

At what point did anyone ever feel Clinton was a righteous man?  :P

It's only the ones who consider themselves Good that need to be humbled, LOL.

Neither Bill nor Hillary seemed, or seem to have any illusions as to the kind of, as the Brits say, "Jack the Lad," Bill is.

And, as IWANA alludes, Bill never made any great and self-righteous pronouncements about "Family Values", or "The Sanctity of Marriage" or such.

It is the religious and political hypocrisy that is the point with fools like Souder.

Republicans think the glass is theirs.

He has dishonored himself in a manner that permanently excludes him from all decent society.

Um, when on earth did Bill Clinton ever get up and preach about fambly values?

Perhaps the correspondent was simply impying that Souder (et al) SHOULD be excluded from decent society (or, perhaps already is in the correspondent's mind).

Speaking of Law n' Order, Family Values Republicans from Indiana, Sen. Lugar's 77 yr. old wife has been convicted of DWI, and a hit and run on a parked car, this week.

Oh, yeah, she got a suspended and "restricted" driving privileges.  Be tough, be very tough, on crime, right?

According to our state law, suspended and restricted driving priveleges is the normal sentence for the first DUI/DWI conviction. It's not until the second offense that there is mandatory jail time. Personally, I think the punishment should be significantly stricter.

So, an affair is only bad if the adulterer preached "family values" and if not, it's no big deal?

I'm well aware what Ken was implying, but society doesn't seem to see an affair as a big offense.

Well, and there is the fact that she hit a car and drove on.

BTW, this didn't happen in "our" state.  It was in Virginia.

Ah, thanks, the article I read didn't specify. Found an article that said the prosecutors dropped the fleeing the scene of an accident charge.
